Padel Sunnyside

If you are based in Sunnyside and you’re looking for the right club to play padel, The Court is your nearest dedicated padel club.

The Court is Glasgow’s own padel club, and it’s got four panoramic indoor courts, a restaurant and bar for food and drinks after your session, and a proper club feel that goes well beyond just showing up and booking a court.

Never picked up a padel racket? That’s fine. Most of the players who step through our doors haven’t. Already playing? After better courts and a proper club? Come check out what we’ve put together.

Underhand Padel Tennis Serve

Understanding Padel

Padel’s a racket sport that blends tennis and squash, and it’s played on an enclosed court that’s about three-quarters the size of a regular tennis court.

Glass walls and metal fencing surround the court, and the ball can ricochet off the glass during a rally, which creates angles and shots that just don’t exist in tennis.

Underarm serve. Always doubles. Snappy rallies that are easy to follow. Ever heard padel described as the best of tennis and squash combined? That’s genuinely a remarkably spot-on description!

Scoring’s the same as tennis (15, 30, 40, game), but there’s one big difference: at deuce, padel uses a golden point instead of advantage. A single rally decides the point, and it keeps matches moving while adding just enough pressure to make those nail-biting games properly tense.

Padel uses a solid racket as opposed to a strung one, so you won’t need the same precision that makes tennis so difficult for newcomers.

Half an hour on court and most players have the basics figured out. That brief learning curve? It’s a huge reason why padel is now one of the world’s fastest-growing sports, with over 35 million players across 150 countries according to the FIP World Padel Report 2025! Fastest-growing racket sport in the UK. Padel in Glasgow has been driving that growth in Scotland.

Sunnyside’s Closest Padel Courts

Four indoor panoramic padel courts. All inside our 33,000 sq ft venue on Glasgow’s south side.

The courts are full-sized (20m x 10m) with glass back walls and metal cage frames, fitted to the same spec you’d see at professional tournaments. Because we’re fully indoors, you can play rain or shine.

Anyone from Sunnyside appreciates that wall-to-wall sunshine isn’t really something you can count on, so year-round indoor play makes a real difference. Outdoor courts dotted around the city are good when the weather’s behaving, but why take that risk when you don’t have to?

We’re open from 8am to 11pm Monday to Saturday and 9am to 9pm on Sundays, so there’s loads of flexibility to fit a session around work and family. Every aspect of the facility was carefully set up to deliver the best possible padel experience.

The courts are well-lit, properly ventilated, and laid out to give you breathing room around the cage.

We wanted to build somewhere that felt like home for padel, not squeeze a couple of courts into whatever room was left over in a warehouse or leisure centre.

Beginner Padel Near Sunnyside

Most people who type “padel Sunnyside” into Google have never actually tried it.

If that sounds like you, here’s what you should know: padel is one of the simplest racket sports to start getting into from the off.

Because you serve underarm, there’s no tricky overhead serving mechanic to learn before you can get a rally going! A smaller court means less dashing into back corners, and the glass walls serve as stops that keep the ball in play rather than shooting off into the distance.

Padel Racket being used in a game.

All of that means you spend more time actually hitting the ball and less time dashing after it!

There’s no need to pack your own gear. We’ve got padel rackets and balls in stock to rent at the club, so you can show up in trainers and activewear and be on court within minutes.

All you need to do is go online, pick a time, and round up three pals (padel is a doubles sport, so you’ll want four players). If you’re nervous about coming across like a complete beginner, don’t be.

Padel is designed to be fun from the very beginning, and most folk find themselves laughing and being competitive within their first few matches.

Even people who’ve been playing for weeks get caught out by the wild bounces the glass walls throw up. For those on the hunt for a spot to play padel in Glasgow where you won’t feel out of your depth the first time you set foot on the court, The Court is that place.

Padel Coaching and Social Play in Sunnyside

A lot of players prefer a proper introduction to padel rather than just figuring it out as they go, and that’s exactly what our qualified coaches run with sessions for different ability levels. Basic shots: forehand, backhand, volley, the all-important lob. Court positioning. Basics. All taught for beginners.

That understanding of where to be and when to come to the net makes a big difference in padel, and getting it through coaching is a far shorter route to actually having fun in your sessions.

If you’ve got the basics covered and want to take the game further, there are sessions built on more technical shots.

Two shots in particular distinguish casual players from those who really know padel: the bandeja (a controlled overhead shot that keeps you at the net) and the vibora (a more aggressive version with spin). We also run social sessions where you can come along on your own and get put together with other players, which is great!

The Court Team

If rounding up four players every time seems like hard work, social sessions are a fantastic way to get to know folk and get regular games established. A good number of our members from Sunnyside kicked off by turning up to a social session on their own and now have a game two or three times a week with players they met on court.

Past the Padel Courts

This is almost very likely where The Court seems most different from other padel facilities dotted near Sunnyside!

We’re not just a box with a few courts in it. The club has a fully serviced restaurant and bar, so you can eat and drink before or after your game without needing to go somewhere else!

Chatting During Pickleball Game

It turns an hour of padel into a proper outing, and that’s precisely how we intended it.

We’ve also got a Pilates studio on site. Padel boosts your cardio and agility, while Pilates builds the core {strength} and flexibility that allow you play better on court and recover more quickly.

A few of our members pair the two in a single visit, and it’s a smart move. We also have a pro shop on site, so if you get hooked (which usually does happen) you can choose your own racket without needing to order online and pray if it’ll turn out right.

The team can walk you through what works for your level and play style.

Then there are private events, another part of what we run at The Court. Whether it’s a team-building day, a birthday, or just a fresh idea for a night out with friends, padel is straightforward to arrange around a group because the rules are straightforward and the games are snappy.

Restaurant and bar on site too. Full evening sorted in one venue.

Glasgow Southside’s Padel Club With a Community Feel

One thing folk spot early on about The Court is it doesn’t seem like a corporate gym or a hire-a-court-and-go sort of place.

There’s a proper padel community here, and it’s developed naturally from the folk who get on court often, the social sessions that bring new faces together, and the fact that the bar and restaurant give everyone a incentive to stick around after the last point.

Veteran players sit alongside newcomers who only touched a racket last month, and that combination is just the atmosphere we set out to grow from day one.

A regular league gives members a touch of structure and healthy competition, while tournaments throughout the year bring together players from across Glasgow and all over.

Winning is part of it, but it’s not the whole picture.

Padel’s a social sport at its core, and some of the greatest nights at the club are the ones where nobody’s keeping score and the restaurant is buzzing with folk who came for a match and stayed for the food.

If you’re looking for a padel club in Glasgow that seems like somewhere you really fit in, come and experience what the community is like for yourself.

We suspect you’ll want to join.

How Padel Compares to Other Sports to Play in Sunnyside

If you’re coming from tennis, the largest adjustment is the walls.

In padel, the ball staying in play off the glass transforms your entire approach about how you think about shot selection.

You can’t just hit winners into the corners the way you would on a tennis court, because your opponent can always return the ball off the back wall!

It values patience and placement over raw power, which is why a lot of tennis players find padel enjoyable but also surprisingly tricky at first.

For squash players, the switch to padel is a touch more natural, because you’re already at ease with walls being part of the game.

The main differences are that you’re hitting across a net instead of into the same wall, the court is open above you rather than closed off on all sides, and the ball bounces differently off glass than it does off a squash court wall.

Squash players tend to adapt pretty sharpish though, particularly to the volleying up at the net!

If you’ve never played a racket sport before, padel is without question the best place to start with.

It’s more forgiving than tennis, more social than squash (because it’s always doubles), and less physically demanding than five-a-side footy while still giving you a solid workout.

You’ll torch somewhere between 400 and 700 calories in an hour of padel depending on how hard you go, and it’s way softer on your knees than running on concrete.

Padel is Growing in Sunnyside : Join Our Community

The padel scene in Sunnyside has come a remarkably long way in a relatively short time.

A few years ago, there was next to nowhere to have a game.

What makes The Court different is that we’re a dedicated padel club, not a side project to a golf range or a gym chain.

The courts, the coaching programme, the bar and restaurant: every last detail about this place was built with racket sports at its heart.

If you’ve tried padel somewhere else in Sunnyside and want a club that takes the sport seriously while still keeping it a laugh and welcoming, we’d be delighted to have you.
