Living in Summertown and itching to play padel? The Court is the perfect club for you!
Walk into The Court and you’ll sense the difference from the first step. Four panoramic indoor courts built for padel, a restaurant and bar where you can enjoy something to eat after your game, and a club atmosphere that makes the whole visit feel like more than just reserving a court for an hour.
Not gripped a padel racket yet? No worries! Most of our first-timers are brand new to the sport. If you already know the sport and you’re after better courts and a genuine club to call home, come and have a look at what we’ve built.

What is Padel?
Take tennis, throw in a splash of squash, and set it on an enclosed court roughly three-quarters the size of a typical tennis court, and you’ve got padel.
Glass walls. Metal fencing. The ball plays off the walls mid-rally. That gives you angles and shots you’d never get on a tennis court.
You serve underarm, you always play doubles, and the games are snappy but really straightforward to follow. Ever heard padel described as the best of tennis and squash in one sport? That’s honestly a pretty accurate description!
Scoring follows tennis at 15, 30, 40, game, but padel adds a twist at deuce: a single golden point replaces advantage. That means one rally settles the game, which keeps the momentum up and adds a bit of pressure to those nail-biting moments.
It’s played with a solid racket rather than a strung one, so you don’t need the same mechanics that makes tennis so tough for beginners.
Most people get the hang of the basics within their first half hour on court. This fast learning curve is one of the primary reasons padel has expanded into one of the world’s fastest-growing sports, with over 35 million players across 150 countries according to the FIP World Padel Report 2025. Fastest-growing racket sport in the UK. Padel in Glasgow has been spearheading that movement in Scotland.

Our Padel Courts Close to Summertown
There are four indoor panoramic padel courts at The Court, all sitting inside our 33,000 sq ft venue on Glasgow’s south side.
Full-sized courts. 20m x 10m. Glass back walls, metal cage surrounds. Same specifications as professional tournaments. We’re fully indoors, so come rain or shine, you can still be on court.
Living in Summertown, you understand the weather isn’t always on your side, so being able to get on court padel year-round at The Court makes a real difference. Outdoor courts dotted around the city are good when the weather’s behaving, but why take that risk when you don’t have to?
Our opening hours run from 8am to 11pm Monday to Saturday and 9am to 9pm on Sundays, giving you enough flexibility to fit a game around everything else. Specifically designed for the ideal padel experience.
Well-lit. Properly ventilated. Real space around every cage.
We wanted to create somewhere that felt like home for padel, not cram a couple of courts into whatever room was left over in a warehouse or leisure centre.

Padel for First-Timers in Summertown
If you’ve just Googled “padel Summertown,” there’s a good chance you’ve never actually had a game!
If that’s your situation, here’s the part that changes everything: padel is one of the easiest racket sports to begin getting into from your very first session.
Because you serve underarm, there’s no difficult overhand serving action to learn before you can get a rally going! A smaller court means less running into back corners, and the glass walls work as barriers that keep the ball in play rather than firing off into the distance.

Stack it all together and you get more time actually hitting the ball and much less time running after it.
You don’t need to carry any gear either. Rackets and balls are on hand to hire. Show up in gym shoes and activewear and you’ll be on court within no time.
Jump online. Choose a time. Gather three pals. Padel is doubles, so you need four players. Anxious about seeming lost? Don’t be.
The whole padel experience is built around having a fantastic time, and most newcomers are smiling and being competitive within their first few matches.
The glass walls produce unpredictable bounces that catch everybody out, even folk who’ve been playing for ages. After a spot to play padel in Glasgow where you won’t feel out of your depth straight away? This is it.

Summertown Padel Coaching and Social Sessions
If you fancy a proper grounding to padel instead of just making it up as you go, our expert coaches run sessions for every ability levels! Coming in from scratch, you’ll be walked through the basic shots (forehand, backhand, volley, and the all-important lob), along with court positioning and the fundamentals.
It’s a much quicker route to actually getting the most from your games, because learning where to be and when to come to the net makes a enormous difference in padel!
Got the basics down? Sessions on more advanced shots will take your game to the next level.
The bandeja (a controlled overhead shot that keeps you at the net) and the vibora (a more aggressive version with spin) are two shots that set apart casual players from those who properly know the game. We run social sessions too, where you can show up on your own and get matched with nearby players.

Social sessions are one of the best ways to meet new faces and build up regular games without the need to arrange a group of four each time. A lot of our members from Summertown started by showing up to a social session on their own and now have a game two or three times a week with people they met on court.
The Full Venue Experience
This is where The Court stands out from other padel clubs near Summertown.
We’re not just a unit with a few courts inside. The club’s got a fully serviced bar and restaurant, so you can grab food and drinks either side of your session without needing to head anywhere else.

What starts as an hour of padel easily turns into an evening out, and that’s precisely how we built it.
On top of that, there’s a Pilates studio on site. Padel’s brilliant for cardio and agility, and Pilates builds the core strength and flexibility that help you play better on court and recover faster!

A few of our members pair both in the a single visit. There’s a pro shop too, so when you get hooked (and it almost always does happen) you can choose your own racket without needing to buy one online and hope it feels right!

The team in the pro shop can advise you on what matches your ability and play style.
Private events are another element of what we do at The Court. If you’re looking for a team-building event, a birthday, or just something different for a night out with friends, padel is simple to set up around a group because the rules are easy to pick up and the rallies are short.
With the bar and restaurant on site, you’ve got the entire evening wrapped up in one venue.
A Genuine Padel Community in Glasgow’s Southside
Walk into The Court and you’ll sense it immediately: this isn’t a corporate gym, and it’s not a hire-a-court-and-leave type of place by any stretch.
The padel community at The Court has grown naturally, formed by the folk who come in often, the social sessions that keep bringing new faces together, and the bar and restaurant that give everyone a incentive to stick around long after the last point.
Long-time players play alongside newcomers who only gripped a racket last month, and that combination is just the feel we set out to create from day one.
There’s a regular league for members who fancy a touch of structure and good-natured competition, and we host tournaments throughout the year that draw in players from across Glasgow and beyond.
But it’s not purely about winning.
Padel is a social sport at its core, and some of the finest nights at the club are the ones where nobody’s keeping score and the restaurant is packed with people who came for a session and stayed for the food.
Searching for a padel club in Glasgow that comes across like somewhere you actually want to be isn’t always easy, but come and see what the community is like here and we reckon you’ll sense the difference.
We think you’ll want to come back.
Padel Compared to Other Sports in Summertown
For anyone coming from a tennis background, the largest adjustment to padel is the walls.
In padel, the ball staying in play off the glass shifts your entire approach about how you think about shot selection.
You can’t just smash winners into the corners the way you would on a tennis court, because your opponent can still play the ball off the back wall!
It favours patience and placement over raw power, which is why a lot of tennis players find padel a welcome change but also surprisingly tricky at first.
For squash players, the switch to padel is a shade more natural, because you’re already comfortable with walls being part of the game.
Instead of hitting into the same wall, you’re hitting across a net. The court is open above you rather than enclosed on all sides. And the ball bounces differently off glass than it does off a squash court wall.
The encouraging news for squash players is that the adaptation is typically fast, most of all the volleying at the net.
No racket sport background at all? Without question, padel is the best place to begin.
Padel is more forgiving than tennis, more social than squash (because it’s always doubles), and less physically demanding than five-a-side footy, all while still giving you a real workout.
An hour of padel gets through somewhere between 400 and 700 calories depending on how hard you’re playing, and it doesn’t hammer your knees the way running on concrete does!

The Growing Padel Community in Summertown
Not long ago, Summertown’s padel scene hardly existed. Now it’s come a remarkably long way.
Only a few years ago, there was almost nowhere to have a game!
Dedicated padel club. Not a afterthought to a golf range. Not tagged onto a gym chain. That’s what makes The Court different.
Everything about this place was created around racket sports, from the courts to the coaching programme to the bar and restaurant!
For those who’ve sampled padel elsewhere in Summertown and are in need of a club that takes the sport to heart while staying enjoyable and warm, we’d really love to have you.
