Padel Stane

Living in Stane and looking to play padel? The Court is the best spot for you!

Walk into The Court and you’ll see the difference from the first step. Four panoramic indoor courts built for padel, a bar and restaurant where you can have food and a drink after your session, and a club atmosphere that makes the whole thing feel like more than just hiring a court for an hour.

Never played padel? Doesn’t matter. You’ll be in very good company, because most of the players who walk through our doors haven’t either. If you’re already into padel and searching for better courts and a real club to call home, you should come and see what we’ve put together!

Underhand Padel Tennis Serve

Understanding Padel

A racket sport blending tennis and squash, played on an enclosed court roughly three-quarters the size of a typical tennis court.

The court is lined by glass walls and metal fencing, and because the ball can bounce off those walls during a rally, it produces angles and shots that aren’t possible in tennis.

You serve underarm, it’s always played as doubles, and the games are rapid but remarkably straightforward to follow. If a mate’s told you it’s the best of tennis and squash rolled into one, they’re spot on.

Scoring matches tennis at 15, 30, 40, game, but padel introduces a twist at deuce: a single golden point stands in for advantage. One rally. Game over. It keeps matches moving and makes nail-biting games properly exciting.

Solid racket, not strung. So you don’t need the technique that makes tennis so punishing for beginners.

Most players get the feel of the basics within their first half hour on court. This short learning curve is a big part of why padel is now one of the world’s fastest-growing sports, with over 35 million padel players across 150 countries according to the FIP World Padel Report 2025. It’s the fastest-growing racket sport in the UK, and padel in Glasgow has been right at the front in Scotland!

The Court’s Padel Courts Near Stane

Four indoor panoramic padel courts. All inside our 33,000 sq ft venue on Glasgow’s south side.

Full-sized courts. 20m x 10m. Glass back walls, metal cage surrounds. Same specifications as professional tournaments. Because we’re fully indoors, you can get a game in rain or shine, whatever the weather!

Stane and wall-to-wall sunshine don’t always go together. Year-round play makes a real difference. Some of the outdoor courts dotted around the city are good when the weather holds, but that’s a gamble you don’t need to take here.

Our opening hours run from 8am to 11pm Monday to Saturday and 9am to 9pm on Sundays, giving you bags of flexibility to fit a game around your schedule. The entire building was carefully set up to deliver the ultimate padel experience!

The courts are well-lit, fully ventilated, and spaced just right to give you space around the cage!

We wanted to create somewhere that felt purpose-made for padel, not wedge a couple of courts into whatever space was left in a warehouse or leisure centre.

How to Get Started with Padel in Stane

“Padel Stane” brought you here, and if you’ve never actually had a game in your life, you’re in very good company.

If that matches you, here’s what you should know: padel is one of the simplest racket sports to begin enjoying fast.

Because you serve underarm, there’s no tricky overhead serving motion to learn before you can get a rally started! A smaller court means less sprinting into back corners, and the glass walls work as boundaries that keep the ball in play rather than sailing off into the distance.

Padel Racket being used in a game.

The net effect is more time actually connecting with the ball and less time sprinting after it.

You don’t need to pack any equipment either. We keep rackets and balls on hand to borrow at the club, so you can rock up in trainers and sportswear and be on court within no time.

Simply jump online, choose a time, and round up three friends along (padel is a doubles sport, so you need four players). If you’re anxious about feeling like a right beginner, don’t be.

The whole padel experience is built around having a brilliant time, and most people are smiling and getting competitive within their first few matches.

The glass walls throw up surprising bounces that catch all players out, even players who’ve been playing for weeks. You need a place to play padel in Glasgow where you won’t feel out of your depth the first time you walk onto the court, and that’s exactly what we’ve put together here.

Padel Coaching and Social Sessions in Stane

If you fancy a proper intro to padel rather than just making it up as you go, our expert coaches run sessions for various ability level! Beginners get walked through all the basics: forehand, backhand, volley, the all-important lob, court positioning, and the basics!

It’s a much faster route to actually enjoying your sessions, because learning where to position yourself and when to come to the net makes a enormous difference in padel!

For players who’ve got the basics sorted and want to develop your game further, there are sessions centred on more advanced shots.

The bandeja (a controlled overhead shot that keeps you at the net) and the vibora (a more aggressive version with spin) are two shots that separate casual players from those who properly get the game. If you can’t always have a group of four ready, our social sessions let you show up on your own and get matched with nearby players.

The Court Team

Easiest way to connect with new faces. Regular sessions without the headache of rounding up four players every time. Plenty of Stane members began exactly that way. Rocked up alone, met friends, and now play two or three times a week.

More to Offer Than Padel Courts

Among the padel venues near Stane, this is likely where The Court looks most different.

We’re definitely not just a unit with courts crammed in! The club has a fully serviced bar and restaurant, so you can have a bite and a drink before or after your match without needing to travel somewhere else.

Chatting During Pickleball Game

What kicks off as an hour of padel easily turns into a proper outing, and that’s precisely how we designed it.

There’s a Pilates studio on site too. Padel delivers the cardio and agility side, while Pilates adds the core strength and flexibility that allow you play better on court and bounce back faster.

It’s worth noting that quite a few of our members combine both in the same visit. And then there’s the pro shop, there for when you get hooked (which almost always does happen), so you can pick up your own racket without rolling the dice on an online order and hoping it feels right.

Our team can talk you through precisely what matches your ability and play style!

Private events are another part of what we offer at The Court. If you’re planning a team-building day, a birthday, or just a change for a night out with colleagues, padel is simple to put together around a group because the rules are easy to pick up and the rallies are quick.

Throw in the bar and restaurant and suddenly the whole evening covered under one roof.

The Court: A Community Padel Club in Glasgow’s Southside

The Court doesn’t come across like a corporate gym. It’s not a hire-a-court-and-leave sort of place either.

True padel community. It’s developed naturally from people who play often, social sessions that bring new faces together, and a restaurant and bar that gives everyone a excuse to linger after the last point.

Experienced players sit alongside folk who only held a racket last month, and that combination is exactly the atmosphere we set out to create from day one.

We run a regular league for members who enjoy a shot of structure and healthy competition, and we host tournaments throughout the year that attract players from across Glasgow and beyond.

But let’s be real, it’s not just about winning!

Social sport first. Some of the best nights here are the ones where nobody’s keeping score and the restaurant is buzzing with folk who came for a game and stayed for the food.

Finding a padel club in Glasgow that comes across like somewhere you genuinely fit in isn’t exactly easy, but come and see what the community is like here and we think you’ll feel the difference.

We suspect you’ll want to join.

Padel or Other Sports in Stane?

Tennis players usually find that the main adjustment is a single one: the walls.

When that ball ricochets off the glass and stays in play, it shifts everything about how you think about shot selection.

You can’t just fire winners into the corners the way you would on a tennis court, because your opponent can retrieve the ball off the back wall.

Power takes a back seat to patience and placement, which is why tennis players regularly find padel both enjoyable and unexpectedly tricky at first.

Squash player? The move’s a shade more natural. You already accept walls are part of the game.

The big differences to note are that you’re hitting across a net rather than into the same wall, the court is open above you rather than closed off on all sides, and the ball bounces differently off glass than it does off a squash court wall.

The encouraging news for squash players is that the adaptation is generally pretty sharpish, most of all the volleying at the net.

No racket sport training at all? Truthfully, padel is the best place to kick off.

It’s more forgiving than tennis, more social than squash (always doubles), and less physically gruelling than five-a-side football, but you still get a real workout!

An hour of padel gets through somewhere between 400 and 700 calories depending on how hard you’re working, and it doesn’t ruin your knees the way running on concrete does.
