Based in Shettleston and dying to play padel? The Court is the perfect spot for you!
The Court is Glasgow’s own padel club, and it’s got four panoramic indoor courts, a bar and restaurant for something to eat and drink after your session, and a genuine club atmosphere that is so much more than just turning up and hiring a court.
Not picked up a padel racket yet? No problem at all! You’ll be in great company, because most of the players who come through our doors haven’t either. And if you’re already playing and in search of better courts and a proper club to call home, come and see what we’ve created.

About Padel
Take tennis, blend in a dose of squash, and put it on an enclosed court about three-quarters the size of a typical tennis court, and you’ve got padel.
The court is surrounded by glass walls and metal fencing, and the ball can ricochet off those walls mid-rally, which opens up angles and shots you’d never get in tennis.
The serve goes underarm, every match is doubles, and matches zip along, yet they’re unexpectedly easy to follow. If you’ve heard padel described as the best of tennis and squash rolled into one, that’s a pretty fair assessment.
Scoring’s the same as tennis (15, 30, 40, game), but there’s one major difference: at deuce, padel uses a golden point rather than advantage. That means one rally decides the game, which keeps the momentum up and adds a bit of pressure to those nail-biting points.
It’s played with a solid racket as opposed to a strung one, so you don’t need the same swing that makes tennis so unforgiving for beginners.
Most people are getting the basics within their first half hour on court, genuinely! That short learning curve has been a driving force behind padel becoming one of the world’s fastest-growing sports, with over 35 million players active across 150 countries according to the FIP World Padel Report 2025. It’s the fastest-growing racket sport in the UK as well, and padel in Glasgow has been leading that push in Scotland.

Our Padel Courts Near Shettleston
We have four indoor panoramic padel courts at The Court, all housed inside our 33,000 sq ft building on Glasgow’s south side.
The courts are full-sized (20m x 10m) with glass back walls and metal cage enclosures, constructed to the same standards you’d find at professional tournaments. Fully indoors. Play any day of the year.
Anyone from Shettleston understands that wall-to-wall sunshine isn’t really on the cards, so year-round indoor play makes a real difference. Sure, outdoor courts around the city are decent when the weather behaves, but why gamble when you can avoid it?
Our courts are open from 8am to 11pm Monday to Saturday and 9am to 9pm on Sundays, so there’s enough flexibility to fit a game around your routine. Every detail of the facility was purposely fitted to create the finest padel experience.
The lighting is right, the ventilation is sorted, and there’s proper breathing room around each cage.
The vision was to put together somewhere that felt right for padel, not to squeeze a couple of courts into leftover room in a warehouse or leisure centre.

Can Anyone Play Padel at The Court?

How to Get Started with Padel in Shettleston
“Padel Shettleston” brought you here, and if you’ve never actually tried it in your life, you’re in excellent company.
That’s you? Brilliant news. Padel is one of the most accessible racket sports to begin having fun with fast.
Because you serve underarm, there’s no complicated overhand serving motion to learn before you can get a rally going! Because the court is smaller than a tennis court, you don’t need to dash into back corners, and the glass walls keep the ball in play rather than sailing off into the distance.

All of that means you enjoy more time actually hitting the ball and less time running after it!
There’s no need to bring your own equipment. Padel rackets and balls are on hand to borrow. Turn up in gym shoes and sportswear and you’ll be on court within no time.
Grab a time online and grab three friends along with you (padel is always doubles, so four players is what you’ll require). If you’re hesitant about feeling like a complete beginner, don’t worry!
Padel’s geared around having a fantastic time. Most newcomers are smiling and getting competitive within their first few matches.
Glass walls throw up unexpected bounces. They catch everybody out, even players who’ve been at it for weeks. Want a place to play padel in Glasgow where you won’t feel out of your depth straight away? This is it.

Padel Lessons and Social Sessions for Shettleston Residents
A lot of people like a proper introduction to padel rather than just figuring it out as they go, and that’s just what our qualified coaches provide with sessions for various ability levels. Beginners get walked through the basic shots (forehand, backhand, volley, and the all-important lob), court positioning, and the rules.
Shorter route to fun. Knowing where to position yourself and when to move to the net changes the game in padel.
Got the basics covered? Sessions on more advanced shots will move your game to the next level.
The bandeja, a controlled overhead that keeps you at the net, and the vibora, a more aggressive version with spin. Those two divide casual players from players who genuinely grasp the game. Social sessions are running too. Show up on your own and get grouped with fellow players.

It’s one of the quickest ways to get to know people and get regular matches going without having to round up a group of four every time. It’s a tale we hear all the time: members from Shettleston who rocked up to a social session on their own and now have a game two or three times a week with players they met right here.
The Full Club Experience
Here’s where The Court genuinely sets itself from other padel facilities near Shettleston.
We’re not just a box with courts inside. The club’s got a fully serviced bar and restaurant, so you can grab food and drinks before or after your game without having to head anywhere else.

The idea was to turn an hour of padel into a full evening out, and that’s just how we planned the club.
We’ve also got a Pilates studio on site. Padel is brilliant for cardio and agility, while Pilates works the core {strength} and flexibility that enable you move better on court and recover faster.

Plenty of our members pair both in the one visit. There’s a pro shop too, so if you get hooked (which tends to happen) you can grab your own racket without needing to buy one online and hope it feels right.

The staff in the pro shop can advise you through what matches your ability and playing style.
Private events are another string to what we do at The Court. Team building. Birthdays. A alternative night out with colleagues. Padel’s easy to organise for groups: simple rules, short matches.
With the bar and restaurant right there, you’ve got the entire evening sorted in one spot.
A Padel Club With a Community Feel in Glasgow’s Southside
One thing folk spot early on about The Court is that it doesn’t come across like a corporate gym or a hire-a-court-and-leave kind of place.
There’s a proper padel community here, and it’s built up naturally from the regulars, the social sessions that bring new faces together, and the truth that the restaurant and bar give everyone a excuse to linger after the last point.
Veteran players sit alongside with folk who began last month. That’s the atmosphere we envisioned from day one.
For members who enjoy a dose of structure and friendly competition, we run a regular league, and we host tournaments throughout the year that bring together players from across Glasgow and beyond.
But at the end of it, it’s not entirely about winning!
Some of the most memorable nights at the club are the ones where nobody’s keeping score, the restaurant is packed with people who came for a match and stayed for the dinner, and padel is doing what it does best: pulling everyone together.
If you’re on the hunt for a padel club in Glasgow that comes across like somewhere you truly belong, come and judge what the community is like for yourself.
We believe you’ll want to come back.
How Padel Stacks Up to Other Sports in Shettleston
Tennis player? The main adjustment is the walls.
When that ball ricochets off the glass and stays in play, it changes everything about how you approach shot selection.
No hitting winners into corners. Your opponent returns the ball off the back wall.
It rewards patience and placement over raw power, which is why a lot of tennis players find padel refreshing but also surprisingly tricky at first.
Coming from squash? The move’s a touch more natural because you’re already used to walls being part of the game!
Rather than hitting into the same wall, you’re hitting across a net. The court is open above you as opposed to enclosed on all sides. And the ball bounces differently off glass than it does off a squash court wall.
Typically, squash players adapt to padel fast, especially with the volleying at the net.
If you’ve never played a racket sport at all, padel is without question the ideal one to start with!
Compared to tennis, it’s more forgiving. Versus squash, it’s more social because it’s always doubles. And compared to five-a-side footy, it’s less physically punishing while still delivering a solid workout.
An hour of padel burns somewhere between 400 and 700 calories depending on how hard you’re working, and it doesn’t hammer your knees the way running on concrete does!
