For folk in Pollokshields searching for the ideal place to play padel, The Court is waiting, your closest dedicated padel club.
The Court is Glasgow’s dedicated padel club, with four panoramic indoor courts constructed purely for padel, a bar and restaurant for a bite and a drink after your session, and a welcoming club atmosphere that makes the experience feel like much more than just reserving a court for an hour.
If you haven’t played padel before, that’s perfectly fine. Most of the people who walk through our doors haven’t. And for those of you already playing and looking for better courts and a proper club to call home, come and see what we’ve built here.

What is Padel?
Padel is a racket sport that brings together elements of tennis and squash, and it’s played on an enclosed court that’s roughly three-quarters the size of a typical tennis court.
The court’s bordered by glass walls and metal fencing, and this is the good part: the ball can come off those walls mid-rally, opening up angles and shots you’d never see in tennis!
You serve underarm, it’s always doubles, and the rallies fly by but they’re remarkably easy to keep up with! Folk regularly call it the best of tennis and squash rolled into one, and truthfully, that’s a remarkably accurate way to put it.
Scoring operates the same as tennis (15, 30, 40, game), with one major difference: at deuce, padel uses a golden point instead of advantage. One rally resolves the entire game, and it keeps things moving and makes those tense games properly edge-of-your-seat!
The racket is solid, not strung, and that small difference means you don’t need the swing mechanics that makes tennis so unforgiving for beginners.
Most newcomers pick up the basics within their first half hour on court. That short learning curve is a massive reason padel is now one of the world’s fastest-growing sports, with over 35 million players in 150 countries according to the FIP World Padel Report 2025. Padel is the fastest-growing racket sport in the UK right now, and padel in Glasgow has been leading that charge in Scotland.

Padel Courts for Pollokshields Residents
There are four indoor panoramic padel courts at The Court, all sitting inside our 33,000 sq ft space on Glasgow’s south side.
The courts are full-sized (20m x 10m) with glass back walls and metal cage enclosures, constructed to the same grade you’d see at professional tournaments. Because we’re fully indoors, you can get a game in any time, whatever the weather!
Pollokshields isn’t exactly known for wall-to-wall sunshine, so being able to get on court year-round makes a big difference. Outdoor courts across the city are decent when the weather’s behaving, but that’s a gamble when you don’t have to?
Open 8am to 11pm Monday to Saturday. 9am to 9pm Sundays. Bags of room to fit a session around everything else. Specifically designed for the ultimate padel experience.
Courts are well-lit, properly ventilated, and laid out to give you plenty of room around the cage.
We wanted to build somewhere that felt proper for padel, not cram a couple of courts into whatever space was left in a warehouse or leisure centre.

Padel for Beginners in Pollokshields
“Padel Pollokshields” brought you here, and if you’ve never actually been on court in your life, you’re in excellent company.
If that’s you, here’s the brilliant news: padel is one of the easiest racket sports to get into quickly.
Serving is underarm, so you dodge that overhead action that takes so long to get right in tennis, and rallies begin almost immediately. The court’s smaller than a tennis court as well, so you’re not dashing into back corners, and the glass walls keep the ball in play rather than flying off into the distance.

The net effect is more time actually connecting with the ball and less time running after it.
You don’t need to bring any equipment either. We’ve got padel rackets and balls ready to rent at the club, so you can show up in gym shoes and sports clothes and be on court within minutes.
Grab a time online and grab three mates along with you (padel is always doubles, so four players is what you’ll require). Nervous about feeling lost? Don’t be.
The whole padel experience is designed around having a brilliant time, and most folk are smiling and competitive within their first few games.
The glass walls produce unexpected bounces that catch literally everybody out, even folk who’ve been playing for ages! If you’re looking for a venue to play padel in Glasgow where you won’t feel out of your depth the first time you set foot on the court, look no further!

Coaching and Social Padel Close to Pollokshields
If you want a proper introduction to padel rather than just muddling it out as you go, our skilled coaches run sessions for various ability levels. Beginners get walked through the basic shots (forehand, backhand, volley, and the all-important lob), court positioning, and the basics.
It’s a far faster route to actually getting the most from your games, because knowing where to position yourself and when to push up to the net makes a huge difference in padel!
For players who’ve nailed the basics and are ready to sharpen further, there are sessions that concentrate on more complex shots.
The bandeja (a controlled overhead shot that keeps you at the net) and the vibora (a more aggressive version with spin) are two that distinguish casual players from those who really get the game. There are social sessions too, where you rock up on your own and get put together with local players, no need to arrange a group.

It’s one of the quickest ways to connect with new faces and get regular games going without having to organise a group of four every time. Loads of Pollokshields members began just that way. Rocked up alone, met new faces, and now have a game two or three times a week.
The Full Venue Experience
This is probably the area that sets The Court apart from other padel venues near Pollokshields.
Imagine the opposite of a box with courts stuck in, and you’re closer. The club has a fully serviced restaurant and bar, so you can eat and drink before or after your game without having to head somewhere else!

An hour of padel becomes a proper outing. Exactly as built.
On top of that, there’s a Pilates studio on site. Padel covers cardio and agility. Pilates strengthens the core strength and flexibility to perform better on court and recover faster.

A few of our members do both in the a single visit. There’s a pro shop too, so if you get hooked (which almost always does happen) you can choose your own racket without having to order one online and hope it feels right.

Our team can talk you through exactly what fits your level and playing style!
Private events are another string to what we run at The Court. Padel is a superb team-building day, birthday celebration, or just something new for a night out with colleagues, because the rules are simple, the rallies are quick, and it’s simple to set up around any group.
Factor in the bar and restaurant, and you’ve got the full evening wrapped up in one spot.
The Court: A Family Padel Club in Glasgow’s Southside
One thing players pick up on fairly fast about The Court is it doesn’t feel like a corporate gym or a hire-a-court-and-go kind of place.
The padel community at The Court has built up naturally, fuelled by the players who get on court week in week out, the social sessions that keep bringing new faces together, and the bar and restaurant that give everyone a excuse to stay long after the last point.
People who’ve been playing padel for years mingle with people who only started last month, and that’s exactly the energy we wanted to create from day one!
A regular league gives members a shot of structure and good-natured competition, while tournaments throughout the year attract players from across Glasgow and well beyond.
Winning’s not what it’s all about though.
At its core, padel is a social sport, and some of the best nights at the club are the ones where nobody’s keeping score and the restaurant is buzzing with players who came for a match and stayed for the dinner.
If you’re on the hunt for a padel club in Glasgow that comes across like somewhere you actually fit in, come and check out the community for yourself.
And honestly, we suspect once you’ve felt it, you’ll want to join.
Comparing Padel and Other Sports in Pollokshields
For those coming from a tennis background, the main adjustment to padel is the walls.
In padel, the ball coming off the glass shifts the whole game about how you consider shot selection.
Unlike tennis, you can’t just fire winners into the corners, because your opponent can retrieve the ball off the back wall.
Padel favours patience and placement over raw power, and that’s why many tennis players find it a breath of fresh air but also unexpectedly tricky to get used to.
Coming from squash? The move’s a touch more natural because you’re already used to walls being part of the game!
The main differences are that you’re hitting across a net rather than into the same wall, the court is open above you rather than boxed in on all sides, and the ball bounces differently off glass than off a squash court wall!
Squash players adapt quickly though. The volleying at the net feels natural.
No racket sport training at all? Truthfully, padel is the perfect place to begin.
It’s more forgiving than tennis, more social than squash (because it’s always doubles), and less physically punishing than five-a-side football while still giving you a real workout.
Between 400 and 700 calories are used up in an hour of padel depending on how hard you’re working, and unlike running on concrete, your knees end up intact.

Pollokshields’s Padel Scene is Growing
Over a relatively short space of time, Pollokshields’s padel scene has come a remarkably long way.
A few years ago? Virtually nowhere to get on court.
Dedicated padel club. Not a afterthought to a golf range. Not tagged onto a gym chain. That’s what makes The Court different.
Everything about this place was created around racket sports, from the courts to the coaching programme to the bar and restaurant.
If you’ve tried padel somewhere else in Pollokshields and you’re after a club that takes the sport properly while still keeping things enjoyable and welcoming, we’d really love to have you!
