If you live in Newlands and you’re on the hunt for somewhere top-notch to play padel, The Court is the place for you.
Walk into The Court and you’ll see the difference from the first step. Four panoramic indoor courts created for padel, a restaurant and bar where you can enjoy something to eat after your session, and a club atmosphere that makes the whole thing feel like more than just reserving a court for an hour.
If you haven’t played padel before, you’re in good company. Most of the folk who walk in haven’t played before. Already playing? Want better courts and a proper club? Come see what we’ve created.

A Quick Guide to Padel
Padel’s a racket sport that mixes tennis and squash, and it’s played on an enclosed court that’s roughly three-quarters the size of a standard tennis court.
Glass walls. Metal fencing. The ball ricochets off them mid-rally. That gives you angles and shots you’d never get on a tennis court.
Underarm serve. Always doubles. Fast games that are easy to follow. If anyone’s told you it’s the best of tennis and squash rolled into one, they’re bang on.
Scoring copies tennis (15, 30, 40, game), but here’s a cool twist: at deuce, padel uses a golden point in place of advantage! One rally. Game over. It keeps games flowing and makes tense games seriously tense.
Solid racket, not strung. So you don’t need the swing that makes tennis so brutal for newcomers.
Give it half an hour on court and most people have the basics sorted. This quick learning curve is a large part of why padel is now one of the world’s fastest-growing sports, with over 35 million padel players across 150 countries according to the FIP World Padel Report 2025. Padel is the fastest-growing racket sport in the UK right now, and padel in Glasgow has been leading that growth in Scotland.

Our Padel Courts Close to Newlands
There are four indoor panoramic padel courts at The Court, all located inside our 33,000 sq ft building on Glasgow’s south side.
The courts are full-sized at 20m x 10m, with glass back walls and metal cage surrounds, fitted to the same grade you’d find at professional tournaments! Fully indoors. Play come rain or come shine.
Anyone from Newlands knows that wall-to-wall sunshine isn’t really something you can count on, so year-round indoor play makes a real difference. There are outdoor courts dotted around the city that are good when the weather behaves, but booking with us means you don’t need to take that risk.
Courts are open from 8am to 11pm Monday to Saturday and 9am to 9pm on Sundays, so there’s loads of flexibility to fit a session into your week! The entire space was deliberately built to deliver the ideal padel experience.
Courts are well-lit, fully ventilated, and set up to give you space around the cage.
We could’ve wedged a couple of courts into a warehouse or tagged them onto a leisure centre, but that’s not what we had in mind. We wanted to put together somewhere that felt purpose-made for padel.

Do You Have to Have a Membership to Play?
No membership needed. Everybody can have a game at The Court.
Anyone can book a court through Playtomic and just turn up for a match! Court hire runs from £28 to £40 per hour depending on the time slot, and that’s for all four players, so it works out at less than a tenner each for an hour of action!

Our Play membership is £40 per month and gives you 25% off court bookings, 10-day advance booking, and access to member sessions and events.

Padel for First-Timers in Newlands
If you’ve searched for “padel Newlands,” you’re almost very likely one of the many people who hasn’t actually played yet.
If that’s your situation, here’s the part that matters: padel is one of the easiest racket sports to start enjoying from your very first session.
Because you serve underarm, there’s no overhand serving technique to master before you can even get a rally under way. Because the court is smaller than a tennis court, you won’t need to sprint into back corners, and the glass walls keep the ball in play rather than sailing off into the distance.

Stack it all together and you get more time actually striking the ball and much less time sprinting after it.
You don’t need to bring any stuff with you either. Rackets and balls are ready to rent. Come along in trainers and sports clothes and you’ll be on court within no time.
Choose a time online and grab three pals along with you (padel is always doubles, so four players is what you’ll need). If you’re worried about coming across like a right beginner, don’t be.
The whole padel experience is designed around having a brilliant time, and most newcomers are laughing and into it within their first few games.
The glass walls throw up surprising bounces that catch all players out, even people who’ve been playing for months. If you’re searching for a place to play padel in Glasgow where you won’t feel out of your depth the first time you walk onto the court, look no further!

Newlands Padel Coaching and Social Sessions
For those who’d prefer a structured introduction to padel rather than working it out on your own, our skilled coaches run sessions for all ability levels. Basic shots: forehand, backhand, volley, the all-important lob. Court positioning. Basics. All covered for beginners.
Knowing where to stand and when to come to the net makes a huge difference in padel, and coaching is the most direct way to build that understanding.
Already got the basics down and ready to take your game further? There are sessions built on more complex shots too!
The bandeja (a controlled overhead shot that keeps you at the net) and the vibora (a more aggressive version with spin) are two shots that distinguish casual players from those who properly know the game. We run social sessions too, where you can rock up on your own and get paired with local players.

If rounding up four players every time sounds like hard work, social sessions are a superb way to get to know people and get regular matches set up. Plenty of our members from Newlands first turned up to a social session on their own and now happily have a game two or three times a week with people they met on court.
We’ve Got More Than Padel Courts
This is where The Court feels different from other padel venues near Newlands.
The Court isn’t just a shed with courts crammed in. The club has a fully serviced restaurant and bar, so you can eat and drink either side of your game without having to head somewhere else!

An hour of padel stretches into a full night out. Just as built.
Pilates studio on site too. Padel gives the cardio and agility side, while Pilates adds the core strength and flexibility that allow you move better on court and recover sooner.

Quite a few of our members do both in the a single visit. Then there’s the pro shop, ready for the moment you get hooked (which often does happen), so you can grab your own racket without taking a chance on an online order and hoping it feels right.

Our team can talk you through precisely what works for your ability and playing style!
Private events are another big part of what we offer here! Team building. Birthdays. A alternative night out with colleagues. Padel’s dead easy to arrange for groups: straightforward rules, fast rallies.
Add the restaurant and bar to that, and you’ve got the complete evening taken care of in one spot!
The Court: A Family Padel Club in Glasgow’s Southside
The Court doesn’t seem like a corporate gym. It’s not a hire-a-court-and-leave sort of place either.
There’s a genuine padel community here, and it’s built up naturally from the people who get on court week in week out, the social sessions bringing new faces together, and the restaurant and bar giving everyone a incentive to hang around after the last point!
Padel lovers who’ve been playing for years mix with newcomers who only began last month, and that’s the feel we wanted to cultivate from day one.
A regular league delivers members a bit of structure and friendly competition, while tournaments throughout the year attract players from across Glasgow and further afield.
Winning is one side of it, but it’s not the whole picture.
Social sport at its core. Some of the greatest nights here are the ones where nobody’s keeping score and the restaurant is full with players who came for a match and stayed for the food.
Finding a padel club in Glasgow that feels like somewhere you genuinely want to be isn’t exactly easy, but come and see what the community is like here and we believe you’ll notice the difference.
We suspect you’ll want to join.
How Padel Compares Against Other Sports in Newlands
Tennis player? The largest adjustment is the walls.
Ball stays in play off the glass. That shifts everything about shot selection.
You can’t just smash winners into the corners like you would on a tennis court, because your opponent can play the ball off the back wall.
It values patience and placement over raw power, which is why a lot of tennis players find padel enjoyable but surprisingly tricky at first!
Squash background? The transition’s a bit more natural. You already understand walls are part of the game.
The main differences to be aware of are that you’re hitting across a net rather than into the same wall, the court is open above you rather than boxed in on all sides, and the ball bounces differently off glass than it does off a squash court wall.
On the whole, squash players adapt to padel without much trouble, especially with the volleying at the net.
Never played a racket sport? Padel is genuinely the best place to start with.
It’s more forgiving than tennis, more social than squash (because it’s always doubles), and less physically punishing than five-a-side footy while still giving you a proper workout.
Somewhere between 400 and 700 calories are burned in an hour of padel depending on how hard you’re going, and unlike running on concrete, your knees end up in one piece.

Not long ago, getting a game of padel in Newlands was practically impossible.
What sets The Court apart is that we’re a dedicated padel club, not an afterthought stuck onto a golf range or a gym chain.
Courts. Coaching programme. Restaurant and bar. Everything here was designed around racket sports.
For players who’ve tried padel elsewhere in Newlands and are after a club that takes the sport properly while remaining enjoyable and friendly, we’d be delighted to welcome you.
