If you live in Mearns and you’re after the ideal spot to play padel, The Court is Mearns’s nearest dedicated padel club.
The Court is Glasgow’s dedicated padel club, offering four panoramic indoor courts designed specifically for padel, a restaurant and bar for food and drinks after your match, and a welcoming club atmosphere that makes your visit feel like much more than just reserving a court for an hour.
If you haven’t tried padel yet, you’re in good company. The reality is, most of the people who step through our doors haven’t had a single game. Already playing? Want better courts and a proper club? Come and see what we’ve built.

What Exactly is Padel?
Take tennis, throw in a touch of squash, and set it on an enclosed court roughly three-quarters the size of a regular tennis court, and you’ve got padel.
The court’s bordered by glass walls and metal fencing, and here’s the fun bit: the ball can bounce off those walls mid-rally, giving you angles and shots you’d never get in tennis!
Underarm serve. Always doubles. Quick rallies that are easy to follow. Players regularly call it the best of tennis and squash in one sport, and truthfully, that’s a pretty fair way to put it.
Scoring follows tennis at 15, 30, 40, game, but padel adds a twist at deuce: a single golden point replaces advantage. One rally. Game won. It keeps matches flowing and makes tight games genuinely gripping.
The racket’s solid instead of strung, which means you don’t need the same precision that makes tennis so difficult for beginners!
Most folk grasp the basics within their first half hour playing. Fast learning curve. That’s a large reason padel now has over 35 million players across 150 countries, according to the FIP World Padel Report 2025. Fastest-growing racket sport in the UK. Padel in Glasgow has been driving that push in Scotland.

Professional Padel Courts Near Mearns
Our 33,000 sq ft facility on Glasgow’s south side is home to four indoor panoramic padel courts, all fitted for the sport.
Each court is full-sized (20m x 10m) with glass back walls and metal cage enclosures, all fitted to the same grade used at professional tournaments. Because we’re fully indoors, you can be on court any time, without checking the forecast!
Mearns’s hardly renowned for wall-to-wall sunshine, so being able to play all year round? That makes a massive difference! Some of the outdoor courts around the city are fine when the weather cooperates, but that’s a risk you don’t need to take here.
From 8am to 11pm Monday to Saturday and 9am to 9pm on Sundays, there’s bags of room in the schedule to fit a session around your routine. Designed from the ground up for the finest padel experience.
The courts are well-lit, thoroughly ventilated, and laid out to give you space around the cage.
The aim was to build somewhere that felt proper for padel, not to wedge a couple of courts into leftover floor space in a warehouse or leisure centre.

Padel for Newcomers in Mearns
If you’ve Googled “padel Mearns,” you’re almost very likely one of the many people who hasn’t actually played before.
If that’s you, here’s the thing: padel is one of the simplest racket sports to start getting into from day one!
You serve underarm, so there’s no tricky overhand serving mechanic to master before you can get a rally going. A smaller court means less sprinting into back corners, and the glass walls act as barriers that keep the ball in play rather than sailing off into the distance.

That all adds up to more time connecting with the ball and less time chasing after it.
You don’t need to bring any stuff with you either. Rackets and balls are available to borrow. Come along in trainers and sportswear and you’ll be on court within minutes.
Hop online. Grab a time. Bring three mates. Padel is doubles, so you want four people. If you’re nervous about feeling like a proper beginner, don’t be.
Within your first few sessions, you’ll be smiling and into it, because that’s what the whole padel experience is set up for: having a properly fantastic time.
Even players who’ve been playing for weeks get caught out by the unpredictable bounces the glass walls produce. For anyone after a place to play padel in Glasgow where you won’t feel out of your depth the first time you step onto the court, The Court is that venue.

Coaching and Social Padel for Mearns
If you want a proper grounding to padel instead of just making it up as you go, our experienced coaches run sessions for different ability levels! Beginners get walked through the basic shots (forehand, backhand, volley, and the all-important lob), court positioning, and the basics.
Knowing where to stand and when to push up to the net makes a big difference in padel, and coaching is the quickest way to learn that.
Got the basics covered? Sessions on more complex shots will take your game to the next level.
The bandeja (a controlled overhead shot that keeps you at the net) and the vibora (a more aggressive version with spin) are two that set apart casual players from those who really get the game. If you don’t have a group of four ready, our social sessions let you rock up on your own and get matched with local players.

It’s one of the simplest ways to get to know folk and get regular matches going without having to arrange a group of four every time. A fair few of our members from Mearns first came to a social session on their own and now happily have a game two or three times a week with players they met on court.
We’ve Got More Than Padel Courts
This is almost very likely where The Court seems most different from other padel venues near Mearns.
The Court isn’t just a shed with courts in it. The club’s got a fully serviced restaurant and bar, so you can eat and drink either side of your match without having to go anywhere else.

An hour of padel turns into an evening out. Just as built.
And alongside the courts there’s the Pilates studio, also on site. Padel’s superb for cardio and agility, and Pilates works the core {strength} and flexibility that allow you move better on court and bounce back more quickly.

Some members do both in the one visit. Great combination. There’s a pro shop too, so when you get hooked (and it tends to happen) you can buy your own racket without having to order one online and hope it feels right!

The staff in the pro shop can walk you on what suits your ability and play style.
Then there are private events, another part of what we do at The Court. If you’re planning a team-building day, a birthday, or just a fresh idea for a night out with pals, padel’s dead easy to put together around a group because the rules are simple and the games are snappy.
Factor in the bar and restaurant to that, and you’ve got the entire evening wrapped up in one place.
A Real Padel Community in Glasgow’s Southside
Walk into The Court and you’ll sense it from the first step: this isn’t a corporate gym, and it’s not a hire-a-court-and-leave sort of place either.
There’s a true padel community here, and it’s grown naturally from the regulars, the social sessions that bring new faces together, and the fact that the restaurant and bar give everyone a reason to stay after the last point.
Long-time players sit alongside newcomers who only held a racket last month, and that combination is precisely the atmosphere we set out to cultivate from day one.
There’s a regular league for members who enjoy a dose of structure and good-natured competition, and we host tournaments throughout the year that pull together players from across Glasgow and beyond.
But it’s not purely about winning at The Court.
At its core, padel is a social sport, and some of the most memorable nights at the club are the ones where nobody’s keeping score and the restaurant is buzzing with players who came for a game and stayed for the dinner.
If you’re searching for a padel club in Glasgow that feels like somewhere you really want to be, come and see what the community’s like for yourself!
We’d bet you’ll want to stick around.
Choosing Between Padel and Other Sports in Mearns
If you’ve got a tennis background, the largest adjustment is the walls.
Ball stays in play off the glass. That transforms the whole game about shot selection.
No hitting winners into corners. Your opponent retrieves the ball off the back wall.
Patience and placement over raw power. Tennis players find that enjoyable but unexpectedly tricky at first.
If you’re coming from squash, the move is a shade more natural because you’re already used to walls being part of the game.
Instead of hitting into the same wall, you’re hitting across a net. The court is open above you rather than closed off on all sides. And the ball bounces differently off glass than it does off a squash court wall.
Squash players typically adapt quickly though, particularly to the volleying at the net.
And if you’ve never played a racket sport at all, padel is truthfully the smartest place to start.
It’s more forgiving than tennis, more social than squash (always doubles), and less physically demanding than five-a-side football, but you still get a real workout!
An hour of padel torches roughly 400 to 700 calories depending on effort level, and it won’t hammer your knees the way running on concrete does.

The padel scene in Mearns has come a seriously long way in a surprisingly short period.
Think back a few years and there was virtually nowhere to get a game of padel in Mearns.

The courts, the coaching programme, the restaurant and bar: every last detail about this place was designed with racket sports at the heart.
