The Court is Glasgow’s dedicated padel club, and if you reside in Maryhill, it’s the natural destination to experience padel.
The Court is Glasgow’s dedicated padel club, with four panoramic indoor courts designed purely for the sport, a bar and restaurant where you can grab food and a drink after your match, and a proper club atmosphere that makes the whole experience feel like more than just hiring a court for an hour.
If you haven’t played padel before, there’s no need to worry. The truth is, most of the people who step through our doors haven’t touched a racket either. If you’re already hooked on padel and looking for better courts and a genuine club to call home, you need to come and see what we’ve created!

What Exactly is Padel?
Padel is a racket sport that combines elements of tennis and squash, and it’s played on an enclosed court that’s around three-quarters the size of a typical tennis court.
Glass walls and metal fencing enclose the court, and when the ball comes off those walls mid-rally, it produces angles and shots that tennis just can’t offer.
You serve underarm, it’s always doubles, and the rallies are fast-paced but they’re surprisingly simple to follow! Folk often call it the best of tennis and squash rolled into one, and to be fair, that’s a fairly accurate description.
The scoring mirrors tennis (15, 30, 40, game), with one key difference to be aware of: at deuce, padel uses a golden point in place of advantage. One rally settles it, which keeps things moving and adds a real shot of pressure that makes the close games seriously exciting.
It’s played with a solid racket as opposed to a strung one, so you don’t need the same swing that makes tennis so difficult for newcomers.
Most people get the hang of the basics within their first half hour on court. That fast learning curve is a massive reason padel is now one of the world’s fastest-growing sports, with over 35 million players in 150 countries according to the FIP World Padel Report 2025. Across the UK, padel is the fastest-growing racket sport around, and padel in Glasgow has been leading that push north of the border.

Padel Courts Near Maryhill Residents
We’ve got four indoor panoramic padel courts based here at The Court, all housed inside our 33,000 sq ft building on Glasgow’s south side!
The courts are full-sized at 20m x 10m, with glass back walls and metal cage enclosures, built to the same standards you’d see at professional tournaments! We’re fully indoors, so come rain or shine, you can definitely play.
Maryhill’s not exactly celebrated for non-stop sun, so being able to play all year makes a proper difference. The outdoor courts dotted around the city are fine when the weather’s playing ball, but that’s always a roll of the dice, and it’s one you just don’t need to take here.
Our opening hours run from 8am to 11pm Monday to Saturday and 9am to 9pm on Sundays, giving you bags of flexibility to fit a match around your weekly routine. Specifically designed for the best padel experience.
The courts are well-lit, fully ventilated, and spaced to give you room around the cage.
The aim was to create somewhere that felt purpose-made for padel, not to wedge a few courts into leftover space in a warehouse or leisure centre.

Padel for First-Timers in Maryhill
“Padel Maryhill” gets searched a lot. Most folk doing that search have never played.
That’s you? Brilliant news. Padel is one of the most accessible racket sports to start getting into fast.
Underarm serve. No complicated action to master before you play. Rallies begin straight away. A smaller court means less chasing into back corners, and the glass walls serve as barriers that keep the ball in play rather than sailing off into the distance.

Stack it all together and you get more time actually hitting the ball and much less time running after it.
You don’t even need to carry any gear with you! We stock padel rackets and balls ready to hire at the venue, so you can rock up in gym shoes and sportswear and be on court within minutes.
Choose a time online and round up three pals along with you (padel is always doubles, so four players is what you’ll require). If you’re worried about feeling like a complete beginner, don’t worry!
Padel is built to be a laugh from the word go, and most folk find themselves smiling and being competitive within their first few games.
Glass walls throw up wild bounces. They catch all players out, even players who’ve been at it for ages. If you’re after a place to play padel in Glasgow where you won’t feel out of your depth the first time you set foot on the court, this is it.

Coaching and Social Padel for Maryhill
If you fancy a proper grounding to padel instead of just making it up as you go, our expert coaches run sessions for various ability level! Beginners get walked through the basic shots (forehand, backhand, volley, and the all-important lob), court positioning, and the rules.
That understanding of where to position yourself and when to move to the net makes a enormous difference in padel, and learning it through coaching is a much shorter route to actually getting the most from your games.
If you’ve got the basics covered and are ready to take your game further, there are sessions centred on more advanced shots.
The bandeja (a controlled overhead shot that keeps you at the net) and the vibora (a more aggressive version with spin) are two shots that separate casual players from those who genuinely know the game. We run social sessions too, where you can show up on your own and get paired with local players.

It’s one of the quickest ways to connect with people and get regular sessions going without needing to pull together a group of four every time. A good number of our members from Maryhill first rocked up to a social session on their own and now regularly play two or three times a week with people they met on court.
Not Just Padel Courts
This is probably the part that sets The Court apart from other padel clubs near Maryhill.
We’re not just a unit with a handful of courts crammed in. Fully serviced bar and restaurant on site. Have a bite and a drink either side of your game. No need to go anywhere else.

It turns an hour of padel into a complete outing, and that’s just how we built it!
We’ve also got a Pilates studio in the building! Padel’s superb for cardio and agility, and Pilates works the core strength and flexibility that allow you move better on court and bounce back sooner!

A few of our members pair both in the a single visit. There’s a pro shop too, so when you get hooked (and it almost always does happen) you can buy your own racket without needing to order one online and pray it feels right!

Our staff really know their stuff, and they’ll walk you through what suits your level and playing style.
Private events are also part of what we run at The Court. If you’re after a team-building event, a birthday, or just something different for a night out with friends, padel is easy to put together around a group because the rules are straightforward and the matches are snappy.
Add the restaurant and bar to that, and you’ve got the full evening sorted in one spot!
Glasgow Southside’s Padel Club With a Community Feel
Something players sense from the start about The Court is that it doesn’t have that corporate gym feel, and it’s not a hire-a-court-and-leave kind of place.
There’s a proper padel community here, and it’s grown naturally from the regulars who play regularly, the social sessions bringing new faces together, and the restaurant and bar giving everyone a reason to hang around after the last point!
Padel enthusiasts who’ve been playing for years rub shoulders with players who only started last month, and that’s the vibe we wanted to grow from day one.
A regular league provides members a shot of structure and friendly competition, while tournaments throughout the year draw in players from across Glasgow and further afield.
But honestly, it’s not just about winning!
At its core, padel is a social sport, and some of the greatest nights at the club are the ones where nobody’s keeping score and the restaurant is buzzing with people who came for a match and stayed for the dinner.
For those after a padel club in Glasgow that comes across like somewhere you actually fit in, we’d invite you to come and see the community for yourself.
We suspect you’ll want to come back.
How Padel Compares to Other Sports Available in Maryhill
Tennis players tend to find that the largest adjustment is a simple one: the walls.
In padel, the ball remaining in play off the glass changes the whole game about how you approach shot selection!
You can’t just smash winners into the corners like you would on a tennis court, because your opponent can take the ball off the back wall.
Padel values patience and placement over raw power, which is why loads of tennis players find it a welcome change but also surprisingly tricky at first.
Coming from squash, the move is a shade more natural because you’re already used to walls being part of the game.
The key differences to note are that you’re hitting across a net rather than into the same wall, the court is open above you rather than enclosed on all sides, and the ball bounces differently off glass than it does off a squash court wall.
Typically, squash players adapt to padel fast, most of all with the volleying at the net.
And if you’ve never played a racket sport at all, padel is truthfully the best place to begin.
Versus tennis, it’s more forgiving. Compared to squash, it’s more social because it’s always doubles. And against five-a-side football, it’s less physically gruelling while still providing a genuine workout.
You’ll use up somewhere between 400 and 700 calories in an hour of padel depending on effort level, and it’s way easier on your knees than running on concrete.

Padel is Taking Off in Maryhill

What makes The Court different is that we’re a dedicated padel club, not a afterthought to a golf range or a gym chain.
Everything about this place was created around racket sports, from the courts to the coaching programme to the bar and restaurant.
