If you are based in Johnstone and you’re on the hunt for somewhere brilliant to play padel, The Court is exactly what you need.
The Court is Glasgow’s dedicated padel club and it’s something special! Four panoramic indoor courts designed for the sport, a bar and restaurant for post-game eats and drinks, and a club atmosphere that makes every visit feel like more than just reserving a court.
If you haven’t played padel yet, don’t worry. Most of the folk who come through our doors haven’t. If you’ve been playing for a while and you’re looking for better courts and a genuine club to call home, come and see what we’ve built at The Court.

About Padel
Take tennis, throw in a splash of squash, and play it on an enclosed court roughly three-quarters the size of a regular tennis court, and you’ve got padel.
The court’s enclosed by glass walls and metal fencing, and here’s the fun bit: the ball can come off those walls mid-rally, creating angles and shots you’d never get in tennis!
You serve underarm, it’s always doubles, and the matches fly by but they’re really straightforward to watch! If you’ve heard padel described as the best of tennis and squash rolled into one, that’s a fairly accurate assessment.
The scoring matches tennis (15, 30, 40, game), with one key difference to be aware of: at deuce, padel uses a golden point rather than advantage. One rally decides the entire game, and it keeps games ticking over and makes those tight games seriously gripping!
Solid racket, not strung. So you don’t need the mechanics that makes tennis so punishing for new players.
Most newcomers get the grasp of the basics within their first half hour on court. That quick learning curve? It’s a massive reason why padel is now one of the world’s fastest-growing sports, with over 35 million players across 150 countries according to the FIP World Padel Report 2025! It’s the fastest-growing racket sport in the UK too, and padel in Glasgow has been leading that movement in Scotland.

Padel Courts Close to Johnstone
Our 33,000 sq ft facility on Glasgow’s south side is home to four indoor panoramic padel courts, all designed for the sport.
Full-sized courts. 20m x 10m. Glass back walls, metal cage surrounds. Same specifications as professional tournaments. No matter what’s happening outside, you can get a game in, because The Court is fully indoors.
Anyone from Johnstone appreciates that wall-to-wall sunshine isn’t ever something you can count on, so year-round indoor play makes a genuine difference. Outdoor courts work when the sun’s out. But that’s a roll of the dice you don’t need to take at The Court.
From 8am to 11pm Monday to Saturday and 9am to 9pm on Sundays, there’s plenty of room in the schedule to fit a game around your routine. Fitted from scratch for the finest padel experience.
The lighting is excellent, the ventilation is sorted, and there’s genuine room around each cage.
Built for padel. Not crammed into leftover warehouse or leisure centre floor space.

Starting Padel in Johnstone
“Padel Johnstone” gets typed in a lot. Most players doing that search have never tried it.
That’s you? Great news. Padel is one of the most accessible racket sports to begin having fun with fast.
Because you serve underarm, there’s no difficult overhead serving mechanic to master before you can get a rally started! A smaller court means less dashing into back corners, and the glass walls serve as boundaries that keep the ball in play rather than shooting off into the distance.

More rallying. Less running. That’s the beauty of it.
No stuff needed. Rackets and balls are available to pick up at the club, so all you need to bring is gym shoes and sportswear and you’ll be on court within minutes.
Just jump online, pick a time, and grab three mates along (padel is a doubles sport, so you require four players). If you’re nervous about seeming like a right beginner, don’t be.
The whole padel experience is designed around having a brilliant time, and most players are laughing and into it within their first few sessions.
Glass walls produce unpredictable bounces. They catch everyone out, even players who’ve been at it for weeks. For anyone after a spot to play padel in Glasgow where you won’t feel out of your depth the first time you set foot on the court, The Court is that place.

Padel Coaching and Social Sessions for Johnstone Residents
A lot of folk prefer a proper intro to padel rather than just working it out as they go, and that’s precisely what our expert coaches deliver with sessions for various ability levels. Basic shots: forehand, backhand, volley, the all-important lob. Court positioning. Basics. All included for beginners.
It’s a more direct route to actually getting the most from your matches, because learning where to position yourself and when to approach the net makes a enormous difference in padel.
Already got the basics sorted and ready to take your game further? There are sessions centred on more complex shots too!
The bandeja (a controlled overhead shot that keeps you at the net) and the vibora (a more aggressive version with spin) are two shots that set apart casual players from those who really know the game. If you can’t always have a group of four available, our social sessions let you rock up on your own and get grouped with other players.

It’s one of the easiest ways to connect with other players and get regular matches going without having to round up a group of four every time. Plenty of our members from Johnstone started out by showing up to a social session on their own and now have a game two or three times a week with players they met on court.
Past the Padel Courts
This is where The Court truly separates itself apart from other padel venues near Johnstone.
We’re not just a shed with courts in it. The club’s got a fully serviced restaurant and bar, so you can grab food and drinks before or after your session without needing to drive anywhere else.

It turns an hour of padel into a full outing, and that’s exactly how we built it.
We’ve also got a Pilates studio on site. Padel’s great for cardio and agility, and Pilates develops the core strength and flexibility that enable you perform better on court and bounce back more quickly!

Plenty of our members actually do both in the same visit! Pro shop on site. Get hooked (it tends to happen) and you can grab your own racket without the guesswork of ordering online.

Our team can walk you through what fits your ability and play style.
And then there are private events, another element of what we run here. Padel makes a fantastic team-building activity, birthday outing, or just something new for a night out with colleagues, because the rules are straightforward, the games are fast, and it’s easy to arrange around any group.
Throw in the restaurant and bar to that, and you’ve got the full evening wrapped up in one venue!
A Proper Padel Community in Glasgow’s Southside
One thing players sense from the start about The Court is that it doesn’t come across like a corporate gym or a hire-a-court-and-leave sort of place.
A proper padel community has developed here naturally, driven by the people who get on court week in week out, the social sessions that bring new faces together, and the restaurant and bar that give everyone a reason to hang around after the last point.
Padel lovers who’ve been playing for years mix with folk who only picked it up last month, and that’s the energy we wanted to grow from day one.
For members who want a touch of structure and healthy competition, we run a regular league, and we host tournaments throughout the year that attract players from across Glasgow and beyond.
Of course, it’s not just about winning.
A few of the best nights at the club are the ones where nobody’s keeping score, the restaurant is packed with faces who came for a session and stayed for the dinner, and padel is doing what it does best: bringing people together.
For anyone on the hunt for a padel club in Glasgow that feels like somewhere you actually belong, we’d invite you to come and experience the community for yourself.
We suspect you’ll want to join.
Padel vs Other Racket Sports in Johnstone
Tennis background? The number one adjustment is the walls.
In padel, the ball staying in play off the glass changes your entire approach about how you think about shot selection!
You can’t just hit winners into the corners like you would on a tennis court, because your opponent can retrieve the ball off the back wall.
Raw power takes a back seat to patience and placement, which is why tennis players tend to find padel both a welcome change and remarkably tricky at first.
Squash convert? The changeover’s a little more natural. You already appreciate walls are part of the game.
Net as opposed to a shared wall. Open court above you rather than four walls. Glass bounces differently to squash court walls. Those are the primary differences.
Squash players tend to adapt fast though, most of all to the volleying at the net.
And if you’ve never played a racket sport at all, padel is honestly the ideal place to kick off.
It’s more forgiving than tennis, more social than squash (because it’s always doubles), and less physically demanding than five-a-side football while still giving you a proper workout.
An hour of padel torches somewhere between 400 and 700 calories depending on how hard you’re working, and it doesn’t destroy your knees the way running on concrete does.

Join Johnstone’s Growing Padel Community

Every detail about this place was created around racket sports, from the courts to the coaching programme to the bar and restaurant.
