Padel Hillington

The Court is Glasgow’s premier padel club, and if you are based in Hillington, it’s the natural destination to experience padel.

The Court is Glasgow’s dedicated padel club, with four panoramic indoor courts constructed entirely for the sport, a restaurant and bar where you can grab food and a drink after your session, and a genuine club atmosphere that makes the whole thing feel like well past just booking a court for an hour.

If you haven’t played padel before, there’s no need to worry. The reality is, most of the players who walk through our doors haven’t had a single game. If you’re already playing padel and looking for better courts and a proper club to call home, you should come and see what we’ve built!

Underhand Padel Tennis Serve

Padel Explained

Take tennis, blend in a bit of squash, and set it on an enclosed court around three-quarters the size of a standard tennis court, and you’ve got padel.

The court is bordered by glass walls and metal fencing, and the ball can come off those walls mid-rally, which creates angles and shots you’d never find in tennis.

You serve underarm, you always play doubles, and the matches are rapid but remarkably easy to follow. If you’ve heard padel described as the best of tennis and squash in a single sport, that’s a pretty fair assessment.

Same scoring as tennis: 15, 30, 40, game. One major difference: golden point at deuce, not advantage. That means one rally resolves the game, which keeps the flow up and adds a shot of pressure to those nail-biting points.

Solid racket, not strung. That means you don’t need the swing that makes tennis so brutal for newcomers.

Give it half an hour on court and most newcomers have the basics covered. That easy learning curve has played a big part in helping padel becoming one of the world’s fastest-growing sports, with over 35 million players active across 150 countries according to the FIP World Padel Report 2025. It’s the fastest-growing racket sport in the UK too, and padel in Glasgow has been leading that charge in Scotland.

The Court’s Padel Courts Near Hillington

There are four indoor panoramic padel courts at The Court, all sitting inside our 33,000 sq ft building on Glasgow’s south side.

The courts are full-sized (20m x 10m) with glass back walls and metal cage frames, built to the same standards you’d expect at professional tournaments. Because we’re fully indoors, you can play whenever you like, whatever the weather!

Hillington and wall-to-wall sunshine don’t really go together. Year-round play is a big deal. The outdoor courts spread around the city are decent when the weather’s kind, but that’s always a risk, and it’s one you just don’t need to take here.

Courts are open from 8am to 11pm Monday to Saturday and 9am to 9pm on Sundays, so there’s plenty of flexibility to fit a game around your life! Specifically designed for the finest padel experience.

The courts are well-lit, fully ventilated, and set up to give you plenty of room around the cage.

We could’ve wedged a few courts into a warehouse or tagged them onto a leisure centre, but that’s not what we wanted. We wanted to build somewhere that felt right for padel.

Playing Padel at The Court Without Membership

To be clear, you don’t need to be a member to have a game at The Court.

All you have to do is book a court through Playtomic and rock up for a match. Court hire runs from £28 to £40 per hour depending on the time slot, and that covers the court for all four players, so it works out at less than a tenner each for an hour of padel.

If you start getting on court often, membership covers itself by making everything cheaper and simpler.

Trying Padel in Hillington

If you’ve typed in “padel Hillington,” you’re almost very likely one of the many people who hasn’t actually tried it yet.

If that’s you, here’s what you should know: padel is one of the most accessible racket sports to start enjoying fast.

You serve underarm, so there’s no complicated overhand serving motion to learn before you can get a rally started. A smaller court means less dashing into back corners, and the glass walls serve as stops that keep the ball in play rather than flying off into the distance.

Padel Racket being used in a game.

That all means more time connecting with the ball and less time chasing after it.

You don’t need to bring any stuff either. We keep padel rackets and balls available for hire at the venue, so just turn up in gym shoes and sports clothes and you’ll be on court within minutes.

Just hop online, choose a time, and gather three friends along (padel is a doubles sport, so you need four players). If you’re worried about seeming like a complete beginner, don’t be.

The whole padel experience is built around having a brilliant time, and most players are laughing and getting competitive within their first few games.

The glass walls throw up unexpected bounces that catch everybody out, even people who’ve been playing for months. You deserve a place to play padel in Glasgow where you don’t feel out of your depth the first time you walk onto the court, and that’s precisely what we’ve put together here.

Coaching and Social Padel Close to Hillington

Want a proper introduction instead of just figuring it? Our experienced coaches run sessions for all ability levels. Beginner sessions include the basic shots (forehand, backhand, volley, and the all-important lob), court positioning, and the fundamentals of the game.

It’s a far shorter route to actually enjoying your matches, because knowing where to stand and when to come to the net makes a big difference in padel!

Already got the basics covered and want to move your game further? There are sessions centred on more complex shots too!

The bandeja (a controlled overhead shot that keeps you at the net) and the vibora (a more aggressive version with spin) are two that divide casual players from players who really grasp the game. We also run social sessions where you can show up on your own and get grouped with other players, which is brilliant!

The Court Team

It’s one of the easiest ways to connect with folk and get regular matches going without having to round up four players every single time! Many of our members from Hillington first showed up to a social session on their own and now happily have a game two or three times a week with players they met on court.

Not Just Padel Courts

Here’s where The Court truly sets itself from other padel clubs near Hillington.

This isn’t a box with courts crammed in. The club’s got a fully serviced bar and restaurant, so you can grab food and drinks either side of your match without having to go anywhere else.

Chatting During Pickleball Game

It turns an hour of padel into a full night out, and that’s exactly how we built it.

Pilates studio on site too. Padel sorts cardio and agility. Pilates works the core strength and flexibility to perform better on court and recover more quickly.

That’s worth noting that a good number of our members pair both in the same visit. Pro shop on site. Get hooked (it almost always does happen) and you can pick up your own racket without the risk of ordering online.

The staff can talk you through what fits your ability and playing style.

Private events are also part of what we do at The Court. If you’re after a team-building activity, a birthday, or just a change for a night out with mates, padel’s simple to organise around a group because the rules are simple and the rallies are quick.

Add in the bar and restaurant, and you’ve got the full evening taken care of in one spot.

A Padel Club With a Community Feel in Glasgow’s Southside

Something folk pick up on fairly fast about The Court is that it doesn’t have that corporate gym vibe, and it’s not a hire-a-court-and-leave type of place.

The padel community at The Court has formed naturally, formed by the folk who come in regularly, the social sessions that keep bringing new faces together, and the restaurant and bar that give everyone a incentive to linger long after the last point.

Players who’ve been playing padel for years rub shoulders with players who only began last month, and that’s exactly the vibe we wanted to grow from day one!

There’s a regular league for members who enjoy a dose of structure and friendly competition, and we host tournaments throughout the year that bring together players from across Glasgow and beyond.

But at the end of it, it’s not all about winning!

A few of the greatest nights at the club are the ones where nobody’s keeping score, the restaurant is buzzing with players who came for a match and stayed for the food, and padel is doing what it does best: drawing everyone together.

If you’re looking for a padel club in Glasgow that comes across like somewhere you truly belong, come and experience the community for yourself.

We suspect you’ll want to join, honestly!

Choosing Between Padel and Other Sports in Hillington

If you’ve got a tennis background, the biggest adjustment is the walls.

When that ball bounces off the glass and stays in play, it changes your entire approach about how you think about shot selection.

You can’t just hit winners into the corners the way you would on a tennis court, because your opponent can always play the ball off the back wall!

Padel prizes patience and placement over raw power, and that’s why loads of tennis players find it refreshing but also unexpectedly tricky to get used to.

For squash players, the transition to padel is a touch more natural, because you’re already comfortable with walls being part of the game.

The big differences to bear in mind are that you’re hitting across a net rather than into the same wall, the court is open above you rather than closed off on all sides, and the ball bounces differently off glass than it does off a squash court wall.

Squash players generally adapt fast though, particularly to the volleying up at the net!

If you’ve never played a racket sport at all, padel is honestly the perfect sport to begin with!

Padel is more forgiving than tennis, more social than squash (because it’s always doubles), and less physically gruelling than five-a-side footy, all while still giving you a genuine workout.

An hour of padel torches somewhere between 400 and 700 calories depending on how hard you’re going, and it doesn’t wreck your knees the way running on concrete does.

Over a short stretch, Hillington’s padel scene has come a genuinely long way.

The Court is different because it’s a dedicated padel club, not a bolt-on to a golf range or a gym chain.

The courts, the coaching programme, the restaurant and bar: every element about this place was built with racket sports at the heart.

Maybe you’ve already tried padel somewhere else in Hillington and you’re after a club that takes the sport to heart without dropping the fun and friendly feel. If so, we’d love to have you.
