The Court is Glasgow’s premier padel club, and if you live in Govan, it’s the natural place to take up padel.
The Court is Glasgow’s dedicated padel club and it’s the real deal! Four panoramic indoor courts created for the sport, a restaurant and bar for post-game eats and drinks, and a club atmosphere that makes each session feel like more than just reserving a court.
If you haven’t had a go at padel yet, that’s perfectly fine. The reality is, most of the folk who step through our doors haven’t touched a racket either. If you’ve been playing for a while and you’re after top-quality courts and a genuine club to call home, come and see what we’ve built at The Court.

What is Padel?
Imagine a racket sport that grabs the best pieces of tennis and squash and plays them on an enclosed court about three-quarters the size of a regular tennis court.
The court is lined by glass walls and metal fencing, and because the ball can bounce off the glass during a rally, it opens up angles and shots that you’d never see in tennis.
Underarm serve. Always doubles. Snappy rallies that are straightforward to follow. If you’ve heard padel described as the best of tennis and squash rolled into one, that’s a remarkably accurate assessment.
Scoring matches tennis at 15, 30, 40, game, but padel adds a twist at deuce: a single golden point stands in for advantage. A single rally decides everything, and it keeps things ticking over while injecting just enough pressure to make those tense games properly tense.
You play with a solid racket as opposed to a strung one, so you don’t need the precision that makes tennis so tough for beginners.
Half an hour on court and most newcomers have the basics figured out. This quick learning curve is a big part of why padel is now one of the world’s fastest-growing sports, with over 35 million padel players across 150 countries according to the FIP World Padel Report 2025. Padel is the fastest-growing racket sport in the UK going, and padel in Glasgow has been leading that movement in Scotland.

Professional Padel Courts Near Govan
We have four indoor panoramic padel courts at The Court, all housed inside our 33,000 sq ft facility on Glasgow’s south side.
Every court is full-sized (20m x 10m) with glass back walls and metal cage frames, constructed to the same standards you’d expect at professional tournaments. Being fully indoors means you can be on court rain or shine.
Anyone from Govan appreciates that wall-to-wall sunshine isn’t really a given, so year-round indoor play makes a genuine difference. Outdoor courts do the job when the sun’s out. But that’s a chance you don’t need to take at The Court.
Courts are open from 8am to 11pm Monday to Saturday and 9am to 9pm on Sundays, so there’s plenty of flexibility to fit a session around your life! The entire venue was purposely built to give you the ideal padel experience.
Well-lit. Thoroughly ventilated. Real room around every cage.
We wanted to design somewhere that felt proper for padel, not cram a couple of courts into whatever room was left in a warehouse or leisure centre.

Is Membership Needed to Play at The Court?
Here’s one thing worth knowing: you don’t need to be a member to have a game at The Court.
All you do is reserve a court through Playtomic and turn up for your session. Court hire runs from £28 to £40 per hour depending on the time slot, and that covers the court for all four players, so it works out at less than a tenner each for an hour of padel.
Getting on court a lot? Membership makes it better value and simpler.

The Play membership costs £40 per month and earns you 25% off court bookings, 10-day advance booking, and access to member sessions and events.
If you’re the type who plans to play multiple times a week, the Unlimited membership at £120 per month gets you unlimited court access, 14-day priority booking, 10% off food and drink, and invitations to exclusive events!
Reserving a Court Using Playtomic
It’s all done through the Playtomic app or website, the same system padel clubs trust throughout Europe.
Grab a court. Select a time. Checkout online. Done. Start to finish, the whole booking takes about a minute.
Go to our Playtomic booking page (https://playtomic.com/clubs/the-court-glasgow), or grab the Playtomic app.

Should you need to borrow rackets or balls, simply let us know when you arrive and we’ll have you set up from the pro shop in no time.
If possible, wear indoor court trainers, but any clean non-marking gym shoes will be fine.

Beginning Padel in Govan
Most players who type “padel Govan” into Google have never actually had a game.
If that’s you, here’s the best news: padel is one of the most accessible racket sports to pick up quickly.
You serve underarm, so there’s no tough overhand serving motion to learn before you can get a rally going. Smaller court. No sprinting into back corners. Glass walls keep the ball in play instead of shooting off into the distance.

That all translates to more time hitting the ball and less time chasing after it.
You don’t need to pack any kit either. We keep rackets and balls ready for rent at the club, so just turn up in sports shoes and gym gear and you’ll be on court within minutes.
Simply hop online, choose a time, and bring three pals (padel is a doubles sport, so you’ll need four players). If you’re anxious about seeming like a complete beginner, don’t be.
The whole padel experience is all about having a fantastic time, and most players are smiling and getting competitive within their first few sessions!
The glass walls generate wild bounces that catch absolutely everyone out, even people who’ve been playing for ages! If you’re looking for a venue to play padel in Glasgow where you won’t feel out of your depth the first time you step onto the court, come no further!

Padel Lessons and Social Sessions for Govan Residents
If you prefer a proper grounding to padel rather than just figuring it out as you go, our qualified coaches run sessions for all ability levels. Beginning from scratch, you’ll be walked through the basic shots (forehand, backhand, volley, and the all-important lob), along with court positioning and the rules.
It’s a much shorter route to actually getting the most from your matches, because knowing where to be and when to come to the net makes a huge difference in padel!
For players who’ve got the basics nailed and are looking to sharpen your game further, there are sessions built on more complex shots.
The bandeja (a controlled overhead shot that keeps you at the net) and the vibora (a more aggressive version with spin) are two shots that separate casual players from those who truly get the game. We also run social sessions where you can rock up on your own and get matched with local players.

It’s one of the easiest ways to meet new players and get regular sessions going without having to round up a group of four every time. Loads of Govan members began exactly that way. Turned up alone, met new faces, and now play two or three times a week.
Not Just Padel Courts
This is where The Court separates itself from other padel spaces near Govan.
We’re categorically not just a shed with courts inside! A fully serviced restaurant and bar sits just at the heart of the club, so you can have a bite and a drink before or after your session without having to head somewhere else.

What starts as an hour of padel smoothly turns into a full night out, and that’s precisely how we planned it.
And then there’s the Pilates studio, based on site. Padel boosts your cardio and agility, while Pilates builds the core {strength} and flexibility that allow you play better on court and bounce back sooner.

Some members combine both in the one visit. Works well. There’s a pro shop as well, so if you get hooked (which often does happen) you can buy your own racket without having to buy one online and pray it works out right.

The team can talk you through what matches your ability and play style.
Private events are another popular element of what we run here! Padel makes a brilliant team-building activity, birthday event, or just something different for a night out with pals, because the rules are easy to pick up, the rallies are snappy, and it’s easy to put together around any group.
Bar and restaurant on site as well. Entire evening taken care of in one spot.
Glasgow Southside’s Padel Club With a Family Feel
One thing people spot pretty quickly about The Court is it doesn’t come across like a corporate gym or a book-and-leave kind of place.
Genuine padel community. It’s built up naturally from regulars, social sessions that bring new faces together, and a bar and restaurant that gives everyone a reason to linger after the last point.
Padel lovers who’ve been playing for years mingle with folk who only started last month, and that’s the energy we wanted to build from day one.
For members who like a touch of structure and healthy competition, we run a regular league, and we host tournaments throughout the year that pull together players from across Glasgow and beyond.
Of course, it’s not just about winning.
A few of the finest nights at the club are the ones where nobody’s keeping score, the restaurant is buzzing with faces who came for a match and stayed for the food, and padel is doing what it does best: pulling folk together.
If you’re on the hunt for a padel club in Glasgow that comes across like somewhere you actually fit in, come and judge the community for yourself.
We reckon you’ll want to come back.
Padel vs Other Sports in Govan
Tennis convert? The number one adjustment is the walls.
When that ball ricochets off the glass and stays in play, it shifts everything about how you think about shot selection.
You can’t just smash winners into the corners like you would on a tennis court, because your opponent can return the ball off the back wall.
Padel prizes patience and placement over raw power, and that’s why many tennis players find it a welcome change but also remarkably tricky to start with.
Coming from squash? The transition’s a little more natural because you’re already used to walls being part of the game!
The big differences are that you’re hitting across a net as opposed to into the same wall, the court is open above you as opposed to enclosed on all sides, and the ball bounces differently off glass than it does off a squash court wall.
The encouraging news for squash players is that the adaptation is typically pretty sharpish, above all the volleying at the net.
Never played a racket sport? Padel is without question the smartest sport to begin with.
It’s more forgiving than tennis, more social than squash (always doubles), and less physically brutal than five-a-side footy, but you still get a real workout!
You’ll get through somewhere between 400 and 700 calories in an hour of padel depending on intensity, and it’s loads kinder on your knees than running on concrete.

Padel is Growing in Govan : Join Our Community
Govan’s padel scene has come a long way in a surprisingly short time.
A few years back, there was next to nowhere to have a game.
What makes The Court different is that we’re a dedicated padel club, not a add-on to a golf range or a gym chain.
Every element about this place was designed around racket sports, from the courts to the coaching programme to the bar and restaurant.
If you’ve sampled padel somewhere else in Govan and want a club that takes the sport seriously while still keeping it fun and friendly, we’d really love to have you.
