Padel Fernhill

For folk in Fernhill looking for the ideal club to play padel, The Court is the answer, the nearest dedicated padel club.

The Court is Glasgow’s very own padel club, and it’s got four panoramic indoor courts, a restaurant and bar for something to eat and drink after your match, and a proper club atmosphere that beats just showing up and reserving a court.

If you haven’t tried padel yet, you’re in good company. Honestly, most of the people who walk through our doors are in the very same situation! If you already know the sport and you’re looking for better courts and a proper club to call home, come and check out what we’ve put together.

Underhand Padel Tennis Serve

What Exactly is Padel?

Padel is a racket sport that combines elements of tennis and squash, played on an enclosed court about three-quarters the size of a standard tennis court.

Glass walls. Metal fencing. The ball plays off the walls mid-rally. That gives you angles and shots you’d never get on a tennis court.

You serve underarm, it’s always doubles, and the matches are fast-paced but they’re remarkably easy to keep up with! Best of tennis and squash in a single sport? That’s a spot-on way to put it.

Scoring runs the same as tennis (15, 30, 40, game), with one major difference: at deuce, padel uses a golden point rather than advantage. One deciding rally and the point is won, which keeps games flowing and adds a real shot of pressure that makes those tense games really tense.

The racket’s solid instead of strung, which means you don’t need the same precision that makes tennis so unforgiving for beginners!

Most players grasp the basics within their first half hour of play. This brief learning curve is one of the key reasons padel has expanded into one of the world’s fastest-growing sports, with over 35 million players across 150 countries according to the FIP World Padel Report 2025. Padel is the fastest-growing racket sport in the UK going, and padel in Glasgow has been leading that movement in Scotland.

Padel Courts Near Fernhill Residents

At The Court, you’ll find four indoor panoramic padel courts, all housed inside our 33,000 sq ft space on Glasgow’s south side.

Full-sized courts. 20m x 10m. Glass back walls, metal cage frames. Same spec as professional tournaments. Whatever the weather, you can get a game in, because The Court is fully indoors.

Fernhill isn’t exactly famous for wall-to-wall sunshine, so being able to get on court year-round makes a real difference. Sure, outdoor courts across the city are decent when the weather cooperates, but why gamble when you don’t have to?

Open 8am to 11pm Monday to Saturday. 9am to 9pm Sundays. Bags of room to fit a match around everything else. This building wasn’t a rush job; it was specifically designed to create the ideal padel experience.

You’ll find the courts are well-lit, properly ventilated, and well positioned to give you enough room around the cage.

We didn’t want to squeeze courts into whatever space was going in a warehouse or leisure centre. We wanted to build somewhere that genuinely felt right for padel!

New to Padel in Fernhill?

If you’ve just Googled “padel Fernhill,” chances are you’ve never actually had a game!

If that’s your situation, here’s the part that changes everything: padel is one of the friendliest racket sports to start enjoying from your very first session.

Underarm serve. No complicated motion to master first. Rallies get going right away. The court is smaller than a tennis court too, so you’re not running into back corners, and the glass walls keep the ball in play rather than shooting off into the distance.

Padel Racket being used in a game.

The net effect is more time actually hitting the ball and less time running after it.

You don’t even need to pack any equipment with you! We have padel rackets and balls ready to pick up at the venue, so you can show up in gym shoes and sports clothes and be on court within no time.

Simply hop online, select a time, and gather three friends (padel is a doubles sport, so you’ll want four players). If you’re hesitant about feeling like a complete beginner, don’t be.

Within your first few matches, you’ll be smiling and fully hooked, because that’s what the whole padel experience is set up for: having a genuinely brilliant time.

The glass walls throw up unexpected bounces that catch literally everybody out, even folk who’ve been playing for months! If you’re searching for a venue to play padel in Glasgow where you won’t feel out of your depth the first time you step onto the court, this is it.

Padel Coaching and Social Play in Fernhill

A lot of folk want a proper introduction to padel rather than just working it out as they go, and that’s precisely what our experienced coaches deliver with sessions for all ability levels. Basic shots: forehand, backhand, volley, the all-important lob. Court positioning. Rules. All included for beginners.

It’s a shorter route to actually getting the most from your sessions, because knowing where to stand and when to come to the net makes a massive difference in padel.

If you’ve got the basics nailed and want to take the game further, there are sessions centred on more complex shots.

The bandeja, a controlled overhead that keeps you at the net, and the vibora, a more aggressive version with spin. Those two divide casual players from people who really understand the game. We also run social sessions where you can turn up on your own and get matched with local players, which is superb!

The Court Team

It’s one of the easiest ways to get to know folk and get regular games going without needing to round up four players every single time! Loads of our members from Fernhill began by showing up to a social session on their own and now play two or three times a week with people they met on court.

The Full Venue Experience

This is almost very likely where The Court feels most different from other padel venues near Fernhill.

We’re not just a shed with a few courts in it. A fully serviced restaurant and bar sits just within the club, so you can have a bite and a drink before or after your game without having to drive somewhere else.

Chatting During Pickleball Game

An hour of padel becomes a full night out. Precisely as built.

And right next door there’s the Pilates studio, right here on site. Padel is fantastic for cardio and agility, while Pilates builds the core {strength} and flexibility that allow you play better on court and bounce back sooner.

A few of our members pair the two in a single visit, and it’s a smart move. And then there’s the pro shop, there for when you get hooked (which tends to happen), so you can pick up your own racket without taking a chance on an online order and hoping it turns out right.

The team will talk you through what fits your ability and playing style.

Private events are also element of what we do at The Court. Whether it’s a team-building day, a birthday, or just a fresh idea for a night out with colleagues, padel is easy to set up around a group because the rules are easy to pick up and the games are fast.

Add in the bar and restaurant and that’s the entire evening sorted under one roof.

Glasgow Southside’s Padel Club With a Community Feel

The Court doesn’t come across like a corporate gym. It’s not a hire-a-court-and-leave sort of place by any stretch.

A real padel community has developed here naturally, shaped by the regulars who come in regularly, the social sessions that bring new faces in, and the restaurant and bar that give everyone a reason to linger after the last point.

Folk who’ve been playing padel for years rub shoulders with players who only started last month, and that’s just the feel we wanted to create from day one!

Regular league for members who want structure and good-natured competition. Tournaments throughout the year pulling players from across Glasgow and beyond.

But let’s be real, it’s not just about winning!

Padel’s a social sport at its core, and some of the greatest nights at the club are the ones where nobody’s keeping score and the restaurant is buzzing with folk who came for a session and stayed for the meal.

Looking for a padel club in Glasgow that feels like somewhere you fit in? Come and experience the community for yourself.

We suspect you’ll want to join, no question!

How Padel Compares to Other Sports to Play in Fernhill

Tennis players usually find that the main adjustment is a straightforward one: the walls.

In padel, the ball remaining in play off the glass alters the whole game about shot selection.

You can’t just blast winners into the corners like you would on a tennis court, because your opponent can take the ball off the back wall.

Padel favours patience and placement over raw power, which is why plenty of tennis players find it a breath of fresh air but also unexpectedly tricky at first.

Squash players tend to find the move a shade more natural, because walls are already an accepted part of your game.

The key differences to bear in mind are that you’re hitting across a net rather than into the same wall, the court is open above you rather than boxed in on all sides, and the ball bounces differently off glass than it does off a squash court wall.

On the whole, squash players adapt to padel without much trouble, especially with the volleying at the net.

And if you’ve never played a racket sport at all, padel is truthfully the ideal place to begin.

Padel is more forgiving than tennis, more social than squash (because it’s always doubles), and less physically gruelling than five-a-side footy, all while still giving you a proper workout.

An hour of padel gets through roughly 400 to 700 calories depending on how hard you push, and it doesn’t ruin your knees the way running on concrete does.

Join Fernhill’s Growing Padel Community

The padel scene in Fernhill has come a long way in a surprisingly short space of time.

A few years ago? Practically nowhere to play.

What makes The Court apart is that we’re a dedicated padel club, not a bolt-on stuck onto a golf range or a gym chain.

The courts, the coaching programme, the restaurant and bar: everything about this place was built with racket sports at its heart.

If you’ve had a go at padel somewhere else in Fernhill and you’re after a club that takes the sport to heart while still keeping it enjoyable and welcoming, we’d be delighted to have you.
