Padel Calton

Based in Calton and want to play padel? The Court is the perfect place for you!

The Court is Glasgow’s dedicated padel club, with four panoramic indoor courts constructed entirely for the sport, a bar and restaurant where you can enjoy a bite and a drink after your game, and a genuine club atmosphere that makes the whole visit feel like more than just booking a court for an hour.

Plenty of the players who walk through our doors have never held a padel racket, and that’s completely fine. You’ll be in excellent company, because most of the players who walk through our doors haven’t touched a racket. If you’re already into padel and after better courts and a proper club to call home, you really should come and see what we’ve built!

Underhand Padel Tennis Serve

Padel Explained

A racket sport mixing tennis and squash, played on an enclosed court around three-quarters the size of a regular tennis court.

Glass walls. Metal fencing. The ball kicks off the walls mid-rally. That opens up angles and shots you’d never see on a tennis court.

You serve underarm, you always play doubles, and the games are fast-paced but dead simple to follow. If you’ve heard padel described as the best of tennis and squash rolled into one, that’s a fairly spot-on summary.

Scoring follows tennis (15, 30, 40, game), but here’s a brilliant twist: at deuce, padel uses a golden point in place of advantage! One rally resolves the whole game, and that keeps things flowing and makes those close games really exciting!

Solid racket, not strung. So you don’t need the swing that makes tennis so tough for newcomers.

You’ll almost very likely get the grasp of the basics within your first half hour on court. This short learning curve is one of the key reasons padel has grown into one of the world’s fastest-growing sports, with over 35 million players across 150 countries according to the FIP World Padel Report 2025. It’s the fastest-growing racket sport in the UK, and padel in Glasgow has been out in front in Scotland!

Premium Padel Courts Near Calton

We have four indoor panoramic padel courts at The Court, all housed inside our 33,000 sq ft building on Glasgow’s south side.

At 20m x 10m, the courts are full-sized with glass back walls and metal cage enclosures, built to the same grade you’d find at professional tournaments. Fully indoors. Get on court any day of the year.

Calton’s never been famous for wall-to-wall sunshine, so being able to get on court all year round? That makes a real difference! Some of the outdoor courts dotted around the city are good when the weather plays ball, but that’s a chance you don’t need to take here.

Open 8am to 11pm Monday to Saturday. 9am to 9pm Sundays. Bags of room to fit a game into your week. The entire venue was specifically designed to provide the ideal padel experience!

Courts are well-lit, thoroughly ventilated, and spaced out to give you room around the cage.

Built for padel. Not wedged into leftover warehouse or leisure centre room.

How to Get Started with Padel in Calton

If you’ve typed in “padel Calton,” you’re probably someone who hasn’t actually had a game yet.

If that’s you, here’s the great news: padel is one of the friendliest racket sports to start enjoying from the off.

You serve underarm, so there’s no difficult overhand serving mechanic to learn before you can get a rally going. The court’s smaller than a tennis court too, so you’re not racing into back corners, and the glass walls keep the ball in play rather than flying off into the distance!

Padel Racket being used in a game.

Stack it all together and you get more time actually hitting the ball and way less time running after it.

You don’t need to carry any gear either. We’ve got padel rackets and balls in stock to hire at the club, so you can come along in gym shoes and gym gear and be out playing within no time!

Simply go online, pick a time, and round up three friends (padel is a doubles game, so you’ll want four players). If you’re anxious about feeling like a proper beginner, don’t be.

Padel is geared to be a good time from the word go, and most newcomers find themselves smiling and getting competitive within their first few rallies.

Glass walls create surprising bounces. They catch all players out, even regulars who’ve been at it for months. For those on the hunt for a place to play padel in Glasgow where you won’t feel out of your depth the first time you step onto the court, The Court is that place.

Calton Padel Coaching and Social Sessions

Some players want a proper introduction to padel rather than just muddling it out as they go, and that’s just what our experienced coaches provide with sessions for all ability levels. Beginners get walked through all the basics: forehand, backhand, volley, the all-important lob, court positioning, and the rules!

Faster route to enjoying your games. Learning where to be and when to approach the net changes everything in padel.

For players who’ve got the basics and are looking to improve further, there are sessions that focus on more complex shots.

The bandeja (a controlled overhead shot that keeps you at the net) and the vibora (a more aggressive version with spin) are two shots that separate casual players from those who properly understand the game. We also run social sessions where you can rock up on your own and get grouped with nearby players, which is brilliant!

The Court Team

Easiest way to connect with new faces. Regular matches without the headache of organising four players every time. A fair few of our members from Calton began by turning up to a social session on their own and now have a game two or three times a week with folk they met on court.

There’s More Than Padel Courts

This is where The Court separates itself from other padel clubs near Calton.

We’re categorically not just a unit with courts inside! Fully serviced restaurant and bar on site. Grab food and drinks either side of your match. No need to drive anywhere else.

Chatting During Pickleball Game

An hour of padel stretches into a proper outing. Just as built.

And alongside the courts there’s the Pilates studio, also on site. Padel builds your cardio and agility, while Pilates strengthens the core {strength} and flexibility that allow you move better on court and recover faster.

Some members pair both in the same visit. Smart move. Then there’s the pro shop, waiting for the moment you get hooked (which almost always does happen), so you can buy your own racket without taking a chance on an online purchase and hoping it works out right.

The staff in the pro shop can walk you through what fits your level and playing style.

Private events are another part of what we do at The Court. Padel is a superb team-building day, birthday event, or just something new for a night out with friends, because the rules are straightforward, the rallies are snappy, and it’s straightforward to set up around any group.

Throw in the restaurant and bar to that, and you’ve got the complete evening covered in one spot!

Club Padel in the Heart of Glasgow’s Southside

The Court doesn’t come across like a corporate gym. It’s not a hire-a-court-and-leave type of place at all.

Real padel community. It’s grown naturally from people who play often, social sessions that bring new faces together, and a restaurant and bar that gives everyone a reason to stick around after the last point.

Long-time players sit alongside people who only touched a racket last month, and that combination is exactly the energy we set out to cultivate from day one.

For members who enjoy a dose of structure and healthy competition, we run a regular league, and we host tournaments throughout the year that pull together players from across Glasgow and beyond.

But let’s be real, it’s not all about winning!

At its core, padel is a social sport, and some of the best nights at the club are the ones where nobody’s keeping score and the restaurant is packed with players who came for a session and stayed for the meal.

If you’re on the hunt for a padel club in Glasgow that seems like somewhere you actually fit in, come and see what the community’s like for yourself!

We reckon you’ll want to stick around.

Padel Compared to Other Sports in Calton

If you’ve got a tennis background, the largest adjustment is the walls.

In padel, the ball being kept in play off the glass changes absolutely everything about how you plan shot selection!

Different from tennis, you can’t just fire winners into the corners, because your opponent can retrieve the ball off the back wall.

Patience and placement over raw power. Tennis players find that refreshing but surprisingly tricky at first.

Squash convert? The move’s a touch more natural. You already understand walls are part of the game.

The key differences are that you’re hitting across a net rather than into the same wall, the court is open above you instead of closed off on all sides, and the ball bounces differently off glass than it does off a squash court wall.

Squash players usually adapt pretty sharpish though, above all to the volleying at the net.

Never played a racket sport? Padel is truthfully the perfect sport to start with.

More forgiving than tennis. More social than squash. Less brutal than five-a-side. Still a real workout.

An hour of padel uses up somewhere between 400 and 700 calories depending on how hard you’re going, and it doesn’t wreck your knees the way running on concrete does.

Padel is Growing in Calton

Calton’s padel scene has progressed a seriously long way, in a short time.

Only a few years ago, there was almost nowhere to get on court!

The Court stands out because it’s a dedicated padel club, not a add-on to a golf range or a gym chain.

Courts. Coaching programme. Bar and restaurant. All of it here was created around racket sports.

Perhaps you’ve played padel somewhere else in Calton and you’re looking for a club that takes the sport properly without sacrificing the fun and welcoming side. If so, we’d love to have you.
