If you are based in Newmilns and you’re after somewhere proper to play padel, The Court is just the ticket.
Four panoramic indoor courts. A restaurant and bar. A real club atmosphere. The Court is Glasgow’s dedicated padel club, and it’s set up to feel like well past just booking a court for an hour.
Plenty of the players who step through our doors have never gripped a padel racket, and that’s completely fine. The truth is, most of the folk who step through our doors haven’t touched a racket either. If you already know the sport and you’re looking for better courts and a genuine club to call home, come and check out what we’ve built.

Padel 101
Padel is a racket sport that brings together elements of tennis and squash, and it’s played on an enclosed court that’s approximately three-quarters the size of a regular tennis court.
The court is enclosed by glass walls and metal fencing, and because the ball can ricochet off those walls during a rally, it opens up angles and shots that you’d never see in tennis.
You serve underarm, you always play doubles, and the rallies are rapid but dead simple to follow. Heard padel described as the best of tennis and squash rolled into one? That’s genuinely a really accurate summary!
The scoring copies tennis (15, 30, 40, game), with one main difference to be aware of: at deuce, padel uses a golden point instead of advantage. One deciding rally and the game is won, which keeps matches ticking over and adds a dose of pressure that makes those nail-biting games seriously tense.
The racket’s solid instead of strung, which means you don’t need the same technique that makes tennis so tough for newcomers!
Most newcomers are learning the basics within their first half hour on court, no joke! That quick learning curve is a major reason padel is now one of the world’s fastest-growing sports, with over 35 million players in 150 countries according to the FIP World Padel Report 2025. It’s the fastest-growing racket sport in the UK as well, and padel in Glasgow has been leading that push in Scotland.

Newmilns’s Closest Padel Courts
Four indoor panoramic padel courts. All inside our 33,000 sq ft space on Glasgow’s south side.
Full-sized courts. 20m x 10m. Glass back walls, metal cage enclosures. Same grade as professional tournaments. Because we’re fully indoors, you can play rain or shine, without checking the forecast!
Newmilns’s not exactly known for wall-to-wall sunshine, so being able to get on court all year round? That makes a genuine difference! Sure, outdoor courts dotted around the city are great when the weather behaves, but why gamble when you can avoid it?
From 8am to 11pm Monday to Saturday and 9am to 9pm on Sundays, there’s enough room in the diary to fit a match around your schedule. The venue itself was purposely set up to deliver the ideal padel experience.
Well-lit. Properly ventilated. Real room around every cage.
Built for padel. Not crammed into leftover warehouse or leisure centre floor space.

Getting Started with Padel in Newmilns
“Padel Newmilns” gets typed in a lot. Most folk behind those clicks have never played.
If that’s you, here’s the great news: padel is one of the easiest racket sports to have fun with from the off.
Because you serve underarm, there’s no overhand serving motion to figure out before you can even get a rally going. The court’s smaller than a tennis court too, so you’re not dashing into back corners, and the glass walls keep the ball in play instead of shooting off into the distance!

More rallying. Less sprinting. That’s padel.
You don’t need to bring any kit either. We’ve got rackets and balls ready to borrow at the club, so you can come along in gym shoes and sports clothes and be on court within moments.
Simply jump online, grab a time, and round up three mates along (padel is a doubles game, so you’ll need four players in all)! If you’re hesitant about coming across like a complete beginner, don’t be.
Padel is geared to be fun from the very beginning, and most people find themselves smiling and feeling competitive within their first few matches.
Even people who’ve been playing for weeks get caught out by the unexpected bounces the glass walls throw up. On the hunt for a spot to play padel in Glasgow where you won’t feel out of your depth on day one? This is it.

Padel Coaching and Social Sessions in Newmilns
If you fancy a proper grounding to padel rather than just making it up as you go, our skilled coaches run sessions for every ability level! Beginner sessions include the basic shots (forehand, backhand, volley, and the all-important lob), court positioning, and the rules of the game.
It’s a much quicker route to actually getting the most from your games, because understanding where to position yourself and when to approach the net makes a enormous difference in padel!
Already got the basics sorted and ready to lift your game further? There are sessions centred on more complex shots too!
Two shots in particular set apart casual players from those who really get padel: the bandeja (a controlled overhead shot that keeps you at the net) and the vibora (a more aggressive version with spin). There are social sessions too, where you rock up on your own and get put together with nearby players, no need to organise a group.

It’s one of the best ways to connect with other players and get regular sessions going without having to pull together a group of four every time. It’s a story we see all the time: members from Newmilns who turned up to a social session on their own and now play two or three times a week with folk they met right here.
More to Offer Than Padel Courts
Of all the padel spaces near Newmilns, this is probably where The Court seems most different.
We’re absolutely not just a box with courts crammed in! The club has a fully serviced bar and restaurant, so you can eat and drink either side of your game without needing to head somewhere else!

It turns an hour of padel into a proper evening out, and that’s exactly how we designed it.
On top of that, there’s a Pilates studio on site. Padel builds the cardio and agility side, while Pilates develops the core strength and flexibility that allow you perform better on court and recover sooner.

A few of our members combine the two in a single visit, and it’s a winning move. There’s a pro shop too, so if you get hooked (which often does happen) you can pick up your own racket without needing to buy one online and pray it works out right.

Staff will walk you through what works for your ability and playing style.
Private events are also side of what we run at The Court. Looking for a team-building event, a birthday, or just a change for a night out with mates? Padel is really easy to set up around a group because the rules are easy to pick up and the matches are fast!
Throw in the restaurant and bar to that, and you’ve got the full evening taken care of in one place.
The Court: A Community Padel Club in Glasgow’s Southside
Something folk spot early on about The Court is that it doesn’t have that corporate gym energy, and it’s not a hire-a-court-and-leave kind of place.
Proper padel community. It’s grown naturally from regulars, social sessions that bring new faces together, and a bar and restaurant that offers everyone a incentive to stick around after the last point.
Padel fans who’ve been playing for years sit alongside with newcomers who only picked it up last month, and that’s the energy we wanted to build from day one.
There’s a regular league for members who fancy a shot of structure and good-natured competition, and we host tournaments throughout the year that bring together players from across Glasgow and beyond.
But it’s not entirely about winning at The Court.
A few of the best nights at the club are the ones where nobody’s keeping score, the restaurant is packed with folk who came for a match and stayed for the dinner, and padel is doing what it does best: drawing people together.
For those looking for a padel club in Glasgow that seems like somewhere you actually belong, we’d encourage you to come and experience the community for yourself.
We reckon you’ll want to stick around.
Padel or Other Sports in Newmilns?
Tennis background? The main adjustment is the walls.
Ball stays in play off the glass. That transforms everything about shot selection.
That cracking shot into the corner that wins you a point in tennis? In padel, your opponent just takes it off the back wall and the rally lives on.
It rewards patience and placement over raw power, which is why a lot of tennis players find padel a breath of fresh air but also surprisingly tricky at first.
Squash background? The transition’s a shade more natural. You already accept walls are part of the game.
The key differences are that you’re hitting across a net instead of into the same wall, the court is open above you rather than closed off on all sides, and the ball bounces differently off glass than off a squash court wall!
Squash players adapt quickly though. The volleying at the net comes natural.
No racket sport background at all? Without question, padel is the best place to begin.
Padel is more forgiving than tennis, more social than squash (because it’s always doubles), and less physically gruelling than five-a-side footy, all while still giving you a solid workout.
An hour of padel gets through somewhere between 400 and 700 calories depending on how hard you’re pushing, and it doesn’t hammer your knees the way running on concrete does.

Join Newmilns’s Growing Padel Community
The padel scene in Newmilns has come a long way in a short period.
A few years ago there was almost nowhere to get on court.
What makes The Court different is that we’re a dedicated padel club, not a bolt-on to a golf range or a gym chain!
Every element about this place was constructed around racket sports, from the courts to the coaching programme to the restaurant and bar.
If you’ve had a go at padel somewhere else in Newmilns and you’re looking for a club that takes the sport seriously while still keeping things a good time and warm, we’d really love to have you!
